TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS REV UP THEIR SOLAR POWERED AUTO MALLS

TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS REV UP THEIR SOLAR POWERED AUTO MALLS

Solar panels in the Philippines have helped many companies save on energy consumption and aided mother nature’s recovery. Solaric has installed rooftop solar for three Toyota car dealerships to date: Camarines Sur (99.9kWp, 377 solar panels), Batangas (99.96kWp, 357 panels), and North EDSA (31kWp, 120 panels). The three facilities now have a combined total of 230.86 kWp, consisting of 854 solar panels, which now powers a significant chunk of its power requirements and daytime operations.

Toyota Camsur

The solar system of Toyota CamSur will incur savings of a minimum of Php1.2 Million each year. Energized in November 2017 with a projected ROI of 6.2 years, the CamSur dealership’s solar harvest was an average of 10,087-kilowatt-hours per month. In the duration of 17 months, that amounted to a total of 181,570 kWh. This translates to reducing its carbon emissions so that it offsets the carbon dioxide emissions that come from 70.3 tons of coal burned. This is also equivalent to saving 2,417 tree seedlings grown for 10 years, and 61 hectares of forests in one year.

Toyota Batangas

Toyota Batangas

On the other hand, the solar array in Toyota Batangas incurs savings of at least Php1.3 Million each year. Energized in June 2017 with a projected ROI of 5.72 years or less, the Batangas dealership’s solar harvest was an average of 9,968 kWh per month. In the duration of 22 months, that generated a total of 219,300 kWh. This translates to offsetting the carbon dioxide emissions that come from 84.8 tons of coal burned. This equates to saving 2,564 tree seedlings grown for ten years, and 74 hectares of forests in one year.

“It is most certainly a wise and sound investment for car dealerships, because of two major reasons. One: the system pays for itself in 5 to 6 years. Two: operational expenses are reduced. It’s a win-win all around,” says Mike De Guzman, President of Solaric Corp. “Hopefully, more business executives and entrepreneurs begin to see that going renewable and installing solar is not only good for their bottom line – it’s also good for the environment.”

Is your business eco-aware?

Is your business eco-aware?

Entrepreneurs and business executives consider solar panels for businesses with hesitation because they have little awareness and grasp of the market, advantages, and effects that the solar panels will have on the business. Despite being aware that numerous Fortune 500 companies are adopting a solar mindset and utilizing renewable energy, thousands of global companies are still wary about green initiatives and environmental efficiency. In today’s eco-aware world, business professionals need to start considering installing solar panels at some point in the near future – not only to become environmentally sound but because it is most certainly a strategic financial decision for the business.

Installing a solar panel system for the business is a wise, significant, one-time investment that provides energy savings for 25 years.

SOLARIC COLLABORATES WITH THE GERMAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI IN DEVELOPING ITS SOLAR TECHNICIANS COURSE

SOLARIC COLLABORATES WITH THE GERMAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI IN DEVELOPING ITS SOLAR TECHNICIANS COURSE

Manila, Philippines – On May 28, 2019, Solaric Corp., the leader in solar rooftops and solar panels in the Philippines, collaborated with the German Chamber of Commerce and University of Makati (UMak) in a roundtable discussion at the Integration Room of UMak to develop and review the curriculum of UMak’s first-ever course for Solar Technicians. The course syllabus was jointly planned, discussed, and developed at UMak. The preparation for this technicians’ course for solar installers began in 2018, and it is nearing fruition and completion this year.

UMak is a public tertiary academic institution with 16 colleges and 3 academic centers catering to 17,000 students. One of the colleges, the College of Technology Management, is developing a program for solar technicians up to 100kW peak solar systems. Currently, TESDA training regulations for solar technicians are only for smaller sized systems such as 2kWp systems and below. UMak aims to develop an industry-wide acceptable training standard for solar technicians which can complement the current National Level Certification (NC) issued by TESDA.

As a major and globally recognized player in the solar industry, founder of Solaric and President Mike De Guzman was invited by Dr. Elyxzur Ramos, VP for Academics of UMak, to once again join the roundtable discussion. De Guzman is known for his solar advocacy, having trained over 5,000 individuals in his company’s trademark SOLAR101 and SOLAR202 courses in the last six years. This collaboration of industry leaders and experts aims to level up the current technicians and vocational programs in our country and to promote industry certification for qualified and deserving technicians.

Dr. Ramos emphasized, “Actually, we were also a pilot university of the K-12 educational system. We started grades 11 to 12 as early as 2012. Our goal is to ensure the employability of our graduates. There is a big demand for skilled workers. A career can be made if you are a very good technician.”

The pilot course will purportedly enable education in the renewable energy sector, which is currently a field and market in high demand.

De Guzman said, “The Philippines will have to add at least 800 Megawatts a year of solar generation, just so we don’t have to build additional coal plants. That equates to 120,000 homes and businesses with rooftop solar. To date, we only have a nationwide total of over 2,100 registered installations. If we want to reverse climate change, we have to make solar technologies attainable to everyday technicians and electrical practitioners. That needs formal vocational training like how they did it in Germany.”

Solar has been gaining traction in the RE sector around the world. In the Philippines, people still need to learn and become more aware and knowledgeable in the applications, implications, and effects of solar power and renewable energy. People must understand the basics, especially in terms of true capital and investment costs, and applications of solar solutions in smart and renewable energy projects. Though solar panels in the Philippines, has been growing in sales, as much more individuals are educating themselves about this fairly new technology.

To learn more about the solar technicians’ course, please visit the University of Makati.

MORE THAN 2,000 SOLAR ROOFTOP HOMES LOWER THEIR ELECTRIC BILLS BY 30% TO 70%

Solaric Corp. Vice President Jade De Guzman said that plans to introduce solar panels in Philippine homes will help manage the rising costs of electricity.

“We envision a nation that is powered primarily by solar. The Philippines has sun – so it’s about time we utilize this free, unlimited, renewable resource to our advantage. We all want a greener and cleaner future, for ourselves and for the generations to come,” said De Guzman.

In the last six years, Solaric Corp. has boomed its way to explosive growth, becoming the nation’s leader in solar panel installation and rooftop solar PV systems. As the race for solar began in the country, the clamor for rooftop installations surged, and Solaric rapidly turned on the sun one rooftop at a time, climbing its way to the top of the Philippine residential solar market.

Let’s examine the figures

According to research data of Solar Digital Squad Philippines, Solaric accomplished over 2,000 rooftop installations nationwide and deployed over 6 Megawatts of solar, including Commercial, Industrial, and Military projects. Additionally, Solaric has trained over 5,000 individuals in the last six years on solar and its applications, through their trademark workshop training courses known as Solar101 and Solar202.

Startup businesses are sprouting from all over the nation with the intent of entering the country’s booming solar space. Yet, Solaric remains on steady, solar ground with consistent deployment of its solar panels, inverters, equipment and resources, always keeping up with industry trends and forces, and always one step ahead of its competitors. Now the household brand for solar, Solaric surpassed all other solar panel installation Philippines providers based on: capacity financed, installations, megawatts, and market share.

Solar market leader

Solaric services the market through tailor-fit turnkey solar solutions that manages everything from start to finish: engineering, design, supply, installation, energization, net metering, and aftersales support. Capitalizing from years of solar system installations, years of technical solar training, and years of serving as the solar resource experts for the corporate sector and key energy officers, Solaric has created a vast network of solar advocates, partners, and installers. This has cultivated its continued success and its own spot in the sunlight.

Number one goal is to reduce costs

Efficiency is the target bottom line. Homeowners need to identify their needs: Is there a need to lower monthly electric bills? Are you willing to make that one-time wise business and environmental investment? Do you want to increase revenue? Do you want to reduce your carbon footprint? Do you want to contribute to a safer, cleaner, and sustainable planet?

How to get started

The typical process begins with the homeowner sharing some of the essentials: daytime appliances used and amount of monthly electric bill. After validating their need for solar, a site inspection is conducted by solar engineers. The solar professionals now examine the site, roof, solar capacity, surrounding area, and evaluate the solar project potential or capability. They analyze the power bills of the past months. They determine the most appropriate solar panel installation for the home. They design a solar system that could produce enough power to meet the home’s consumption or usage. PV design is then prepared along with a site survey report and proposal. After discussion and contract signing, equipment delivery and installation ensues. The distinguishing factor of the Solaric team is that they assist you every step of the way – even in the application and processing of the Net Metering Program with the utility company. After energization, the after sales team takes over and provides maintenance services year on year. The entire process is technical but direct.

Choosing the right one

With the right solar partner such as Solaric, the focus will be on the homeowner: to provide clean sustainable energy systems that are economically sensible and environmentally sound. Solaric selects and builds solar panels in the Philippines that are affordable, energy efficient, reliable, cost-effective, and provides the best value to clients.

AND NOW IT’S TRENDING: ZBB

Solaric is the leader in rooftop solar

Zero carbon homes

Zero Carbon homes are those that do not release carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, thus, zero carbon emissions. When people talk about a safe, sustainable, renewable future, they are talking about a clean, healthy, and zero carbon economy and world. They are talking about sliced and diced greenhouse gas emissions – to zero. Imagine the year 2050: low-carbon electricity, efficient green buildings, solar panels in every Philippine home, and electric vehicles.

Zero bill baby

Zero bill homes are sprouting from all corners of the nation. And it is fast becoming the solar trend. Homeowners now don’t just want solar – they want a zero bill. Take the 800 square meter house featured in the 2019 summer video of Solaric. Situated in an exclusive, gated, first-class subdivision in Muntinlupa City is the two-story home of eight members. Four years ago, the monthly electric bill amounted to P25,000 to P35,000. Daytime appliances run by household include two refrigerators, one chest freezer, one standing freezer, one aircon, washing machine, and dryer, among others. Night time and weekend power consumption include up to 5 aircons. After solar installation and energization, after approval of Net Metering with Peak Off Peak, the power bill started to drop. Since 2015, the monthly bill has been Php0.00: Zero. Another zero bill baby, hence giving birth to what is now known in the social media universe as the phenomenal and mind-blowing ZBB.

Thinking about solar

Solar energy has taken the lead in providing renewable energy to countries all over the planet. In the Philippines, a tropical Southeast Asian nation, it has become the cleanest, safest, and most financially sensible option to reduce those monthly electric bills. When Filipinos contemplate on buying rooftop solar, they have various reasons: to save money, to invest in something profitable, to keep up with the pace of technology, or to contribute to a sustainable future. Some are simply concerned about the environment and the world. Now, a new reason has surfaced: to get a ZBB.

What the #ZeroBill is all about

The #ZeroBill is simple: it means free electricity. Everyone indulges in anything that is free. Who doesn’t want free power? Imagine relaxing in the comforting, cool atmosphere of an air-conditioned room, especially in the midst of the tormenting daytime Philippines heat with the global warming and climate change of today. With a solar power system in place, there is now an opportunity for every homeowner to be a consumer and a producer of power at the same time. Through the Net Metering Program, homeowners get paid for providing clean solar power to the grid. You don’t just use the power, you produce it too. This simply means that you enjoy the benefits and luxury of free power.

A large solar power system makes more sense financially and environmentally for some homeowners. Not only does an enormous solar system increase property value, it also greatly reduces the carbon footprint and contributes to a cleaner planet.

Breaking it down in simple terms

It is pretty straightforward and simple. Put plenty of solar panels on your roof and generate enough power. Then, export this power to the electric company through the Net Metering Program. In doing this, you get paid for the electricity that you will export. The #ZeroBill phenomenon is actually a benefit from being a consumer and provider.

In 2016, there were 473 net metered installations in the Philippines. As of 2018, there was a cumulative total of 19.6 MW of net metered installations registered under ERC. Today, there are over 2,000 net metered installations in the country.

How to get that zero bill

There are various ways to set up solar so that you will never have to pay for power again. Contact Solaric for a Zero Bill by calling 0917.860.3141 or 5040092 or send an email to info@solaric.com.ph. Visit www.solaric.com.ph for more details.

QUEZON CITY: 8 REASONS YOU SHOULD GO SOLAR THIS SUMMER

QUEZON CITY: 8 REASONS YOU SHOULD GO SOLAR THIS SUMMER

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
March 26, 2019

Have you ever wondered whether the benefits of solar panels in the Philippines are actually worth the costs? Every Filipino has that on their mind. Is this clean, safe, healthy, sustainable, and renewable energy source really worth it? The costs have dropped. Everyone is on a solar trend. Solar panel installations increase by 70% year on year. What is it about solar that you need to know? Do you need convincing? Well here are 8 reasons why you should install solar!

To Get Rid of the High Electric Bill

The number one reason to go solar is because of the always increasing and unpredictable electricity rates. There is only one way to avoid that constantly rising utility expense: by not having an expense to pay for in the first place. By going solar, you can reduce that electric bill by 70%. That translates to significant monthly savings! If you want more, then you can even eliminate that utility bill and make that electric bill go zero. You just need to approach the solar experts!

To Save Thousands of Pesos Each Month

The average solar panel system installation cost is approximately Php300,000. If that seems too expensive, then consider the fact that solar consumers save an average of Php10,000 each month in the first year alone. That translates to Php120,000 each year. In ten years, that equates to Php1.2 Million. That’s a whopping Php2.4 Million in 20 years. The system pays for itself within five years, and you continue to save money on your monthly electric bill forever.

To Increase Your Property Value

Whether the property is a home or a business, a solar panel system installation is an investment. In other words, ROI is achievable in an average of five years. In addition to that, solar panels on your roof make the property green, sustainable, and renewable. This makes it much more attractive to buyers!

To Save the Environment

Traditional sources of power involve burning fossil fuels and this causes environmental pollution. Think green. Our planet needs us to start lowering our carbon footprint. We need to prioritize saving planet earth. One solar system installation typically offsets 178 tons of carbon dioxide over the course of 30 years. To put things into perspective, this is equivalent to planting 10 football fields full of trees. So it’s either that, or we continue to burn fossil fuels and destroy the planet’s ozone layer and contribute to global warming. To save the planet, go solar.

To Enjoy Energy Security

The sun is an unlimited resource and provides approximately four million tons of energy every single second. The entire human population only uses 0.0001% of that amount in terms of global energy consumption. In other words, we never need to worry about energy running out.

Turn on the sun

At Solaric, we do not view our service as merely “selling solar panels,” but rather enabling lifestyles and appealing to Filipino sensibilities of approachability, service and value. Before we give a quotation, we learn how you use energy. We determine the best ways to maximize your return on a hard-earned investment. We present different strategies to ensure that you achieve your solar goals. We want to ensure reduced expenses and increased savings so that you make that one-time wise business and environmental investment.

THE PHILIPPINES: ARE WE TURNING ON THE SUN?

THE PHILIPPINES: ARE WE TURNING ON THE SUN?

Shifting Gears Toward Clean, Sustainable, and Renewable Energy This 2019

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
March 21, 2019

The solar industry in a nutshell

Solar power is beginning to play a massive role in delivering clean and safe energy to the world population. There are various giants at play in this industry. In countries like the Philippines, solar panel parts and accessories manufacturers market products such as inverters, mounting racks, batteries, energy storage systems, etc. Solar panel manufacturers make, develop, produce, and distribute solar panels. Solar installers offer a one-stop shop, or a turnkey solution for solar power systems from system design, engineering, installation, to maintenance and support. These are usually the top-of-mind names that the end consumers are familiar with.

Cost per click and cost per watt

Back in the day, business talks revolved around CPC, or cost per click. This 2019, discussions focus on Cost Per Watt. This is one of the most important metrics to know and understand because this is how to determine efficiency and production costs.

The key takeaway

The growth of the solar industry will continue. The International Energy Agency estimates that by 2022, global capacity will be between 1,000 and 1,300 gigawatts (GW), while GTM Research estimates global capacity at 871 GW by 2022. This can be summed up in one simple sentence: global solar demand will continue to rise over time.

Is climate change getting worse?

The entire planet is adversely affected by climate change, which is why various countries are embracing renewable energy, especially solar. Almost 100% of Iceland’s energy comes from renewable sources. Sweden has boldly declared its goal of eliminating fossil fuels. Germany runs on 20% renewable energy. Costa Rica has a target of being absolutely carbon neutral by year 2021. The Philippines has a longer dry season. Thus, we have more sunshine. What is our goal in the Philippines?

Who is the biggest pure-play solar installer in the Philippines?

Solaric is the recognized king of rooftop solar. Solaric has established its name across the renewable industry as a proven and reputable rooftop solar leader. Backed by decades of experience, Solaric has installed more than 50% of residential rooftop solar panels in the Philippines and has delivered significant cost reductions in electricity expenses, as well as milestone contributions to a cleaner, greener, and renewable future. Solaric is now becoming the recognized leader in corporate and industrial solar projects. The Solaric installers and engineers are well-known troubleshooting experts. They work hard to ensure that solar panel systems run efficiently and seamlessly so that everyone with rooftop solar can enjoy the benefits of clean and renewable power. How Another Satisfied Client Reduced Her Electric Bill by P3,000 Right After Installing Rooftop Solar

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
March 12, 2019

All about Grace

In a private, gated subdivision in Malabon, stands the 3-story home of Tita Grace. On a typical day, the daytime appliances that the household runs includes a washing machine, dryer, television, fans, aircons, refrigerator, freezer, computer, and gadgets. Her monthly electric bill was approximately P12,000.

The buzz about solar

Grace started hearing the buzz about solar panels in the Philippines and its explosive boom in the past decade, especially here in the Philippines. She learned about how it was fast becoming the number one solution to power. She also started seeing videos on Facebook about homeowners who installed rooftop solar, and how those homeowners became more energy efficient, protected the environment, and saved money.

She wanted to reduce costs too

Grace wanted to lower her monthly electric bill. She wanted what those homeowners had: reduced expenses and increased savings. So she decided to make that one-time wise business and environmental investment.

How she got started

Grace contacted a leader in rooftop solar and requested a site survey. The solar professionals and engineers went to her home, examined the property, roof, solar capacity, and its surrounding area. They then evaluated the solar project potential or capability. The solar experts analyzed Grace’s electric bills in recent months. They determined the most appropriate solar panel installation for her home. They then designed a solar system that could produce enough power to meet the home’s consumption or usage and sent her a detailed proposal.

It was a go

She went on to install a 1.77 kWp Grid Tie System – which does not use any batteries. It is basically a solar power system that is connected to the utility power grid. When asked why she decided to install a grid-tie system, Grace said, “I save more money with a grid tie system because it’s cheaper, plus I can avail of Net Metering and Peak Off-Peak (POP). With net metering, I can even sell my excess electricity to the utility grid. For my entire system, I only spent P140,000. That’s one fourth the value of buying a car, and yet my entire family will benefit from it forever.”

What happened after

How much did Grace save? She showed us her pre-solar bills and the post-solar bill (one month after her rooftop solar was installed). Her new bill was a surprising P9,000, which equated to instant savings of P3,000. “My savings went to groceries… and entertainment,” she grinned.

Wait there’s more

It was not the savings nor the benefits that Grace loved the most about her newly installed rooftop solar from Solaric. “The best thing I love about Solaric is their customer service. I did not understand much of the technical stuff and I was not so knowledgeable about solar panels. I had to call them all the time. What I appreciated the most is that they always got in touch with me – even when they were in the middle of meetings, and even when they were out in the field.”

Solaric is the Solar Service Leader

At Solaric, we always do our best to deliver fast, efficient, and thorough customer service. We are in the business of not just selling solar panels – but also enabling Solar-powered lifestyles. With this, we want to provide endless satisfaction by delivering Solaric Service Satisfaction, ranging from permanent reduction of electric bills to the ultimate ZERO bill.

Using the sun to run all your appliances is a recent technological development and we guide our customers step by step on using solar: how to size properly, handle maintenance and Net metering permitting, how to manage the system, and more, so that the utility company will BUY the surplus power. Our solar engineers go through the electrical usage patterns and examine what appliances are used during daytime and nighttime hours, determine the power consumption, and identify how much solar energy your roof can generate using precise computations. From there, we can forecast a solar impact on your electric bills with the desired solar panel system installation in mind.

Grace wanted to try out solar panels in the Philippines first to see what six panels can do before going all out for the phenomenal Zero Bill system. Apparently, the price is not the only thing she factored in. She was more keen on the responsiveness of the Solaric team – which comprised the entire company, from the survey team to the installation crew to the ever-important aftersales customer support team. And that is how Solaric makes a difference. No one else can Turn On The Sun the way we do.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

It’s cheap: a solar panel system costs two iPhones or half a car.

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
February 28, 2019

Is it affordable now?

It isn’t just about weighing the effects of fossil fuels versus solar panels in the Philippines. Go deeper into considering the significant returns of the solar panel system over the course of 20 to 25 years.

Climate change and stuff

Imagine if most homes, buildings, factories, warehouses, and business establishments installed solar panels. The entire nation would increase its solar power capacity multiple times. Our annual carbon dioxide emissions from energy use would diminish. We would contribute to the environment instead of destroying it with the effects of traditional energy sources. We would incur significant savings in utility costs. We would directly be responsible for a cleaner, safer, and healthier planet.

“We really should start thinking renewable. Every new home and every new facility that is constructed without a solar power system is truly a missed opportunity,” says Jade De Guzman, Vice President of Solaric Corp., recognized as the leader in rooftop solar of the Philippines. “There are really just two things we need to understand about sustainability and generating solar power from our rooftops. Number one: you reduce pollution. Number two: you reduce your electric bill.”

What is the average cost of solar panels?

Solar panels will reduce your overall total costs on power in your lifetime. There are upfront costs to consider.

This shows that the average solar panel system cost in the Philippines is Php128,500 for a 1.62 kWp solar system. The good news is that the cost of panels only continues to fall year after year. As technology advances, rates drop, and solar power becomes cheaper to produce.

In order to get a solar panel system, it’s important to keep in mind that the cost can vary significantly based on various factors: roof type and space, sun exposure, daytime appliances used, monthly electric bill or power consumption, solar panel system size, quality, installation, labor, installation, brand, location or city, etc. Another crucial factor is your objective. THE GIFT OF SOLAR FOR THE AETAS IN ZAMBALES

The Story of Solaric and the Goat

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
February 20, 2019

This recent Solaric weekend was all about radical 4×4 vehicles, a relief mission, lechon for an appetizer, SAF commandos, and bartering goats for solar panels in the Philippines!

Solar sparks joy

Solar sparks joy

We received a request to give some solar to spark some Joy for the Aetas in Zambales and combine it with a camping trip in Lake Mapanuepe. Never heard of it? Well, it is a lake formed by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, located an hour North of Subic. At Solaric, we pride ourselves in providing energy solutions for every Juan – rich, poor, or even the most remote indigenous tribes.

So we went on a mission: special delivery for outreach goods. Clothes, water filtration systems, hundreds of children’s slippers and of course, Solaric to donate portable solar kits for the nomadic Aeta people.

How we got there

How we got there

The final hour of driving was challenging as the only approach is a Lahar river bed and no manmade roads. We had to use winches, tow straps, and recovery bars to get our 30+ vehicle convoy through the Lahar wasteland. It’s like driving on the surface of the moon to get to this secluded and pristine lake! Technical 4×4 action was needed because there was a near overheat, small river crossing challenges, and endless kilometers of lahar driving at full speed. It was like a scene out of Mad Max!

Solar for goats

Solar for goats

We traveled so far into the impenetrable interior of Zambales where money means nothing and electricity means everything. Alex Pangan, a member of the Aeta tribe, wanted to get one of our camp solar panels in exchange one of his goats – because his goats were valuable to him. Alex literally owns one light bulb. His only source for light is walking one entire day to charge a 12v motorcycle battery, pay 20 pesos per charge, and hike back two hills behind the lake. He repeats this every week. He has 4 children and they use that meager light to study and do homework. He wanted to get the solar panel so he does not have to use his limited hard currency for electricity.

We respectfully declined his offer of a beautiful, unblemished #goat for #Solar panels. His story and his understanding of the importance of renewable energy were more than enough. We provided hope and energy in the Philippines through solar panels where it really mattered. Sharing light and giving power is what truly defines Solaric.

HOW YOUR BUSINESS WILL BENEFIT FROM SOLAR ENERGY

HOW YOUR BUSINESS WILL BENEFIT FROM SOLAR ENERGY

An Interview with an Entrepreneur Who Saved P100K/month on Electricity Expenses

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
February 11, 2019

Take a look at the trend in C&I

Electric prices are constantly increasing. On the other hand, the cost of buying and installing a solar power system or solar panels in the Philippines is decreasing. Solar energy has become the most sustainable and cost-effective alternative for business owners in the last few years. In the Philippines, many owners of small and medium-sized companies are still in the process of understanding how solar power can make financial sense for their business. It is important to keep in mind that numerous Fortune 500 companies are already onboard with using solar power. Conglomerates and enterprises around the world have discovered and utilized the power from the sun, including big giant names such as Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Netflix, Cisco, Walmart, Target, IKEA, and many more. All these companies have embraced solar and reaped its results and benefits. It’s safe to say that solar power systems are wise, win-win, tested and proven investments on the global scale.

Savings for the business

“Businesses are zoning in on renewable energy and sustainability. It is now an advantage to market your business as renewable, and there is a significance and importance in that itself. On the other hand, the primary driver for most businesses is energy savings – to reduce their electric bills,” says Mike De Guzman, President of Solaric Corp., the leader in rooftop solar in the Philippines.

From the ROI perspective

Of course, energy savings from solar can be very substantial for businesses. Overall energy costs can be reduced by up to 75% by going solar. Research data shows that for businesses, buying and installing solar systems are similar to prepaying electric bills for 5 years. The benefits, however, run for a lifetime.

Let’s examine a cold storage facility

We visited a cold storage facility that installed solar with Solaric in year 2017 and asked entrepreneur Cesar Mercado some serious questions. Mr. Mercado’s cold storage warehouse had a monthly Meralco bill of about P580,000 per month. In discussing the details of solar savings and Return on Investment, he says, “A 5.5 million peso system for our cold storage facility, with net metering, results in a monthly electric bill of less than P480,000 each month. That’s 100,000 savings each month. The way I see it, that’s ROI in less than 5 years,” he grins, as he showcases the solar system online monitoring platform.

“A more detailed glance at the calculations will show that in under 5 years, we would have made that 5.5M back, and we will continue to reap the benefits of the solar system for the next 20+ years. If we are really going to examine the figures, after the system reaches ROI, it will actually give us P24 Million in savings for the next 20 years! There is no other win-win alternative. We can’t go wrong with solar.”

More reasons for your business to go solar

Solar panel systems are reliable and do not require too much maintenance. That means there are typically no monthly repair and maintenance costs. In addition, your business will adopt a green approach, and your company will be defined as environmentally responsible. The costs of solar power systems depend on the energy demands of the business. However, solar panel prices have decreased to more than 80% since year 2011. This makes it affordable and financially feasible for practically every business to go solar.

Choosing the right solar company

Selecting the right installation partner in the Philippines for solar panels is a decision that clients should make properly. You should consider the reputation of the solar provider. You should ask your friends and colleagues about their experience with the solar company. You should seek out testimonials. You should ask about the maintenance costs. Most importantly, however, you should choose a solar company that is recognized as industry experts with an extensive list of solar installs.
