ZERO BILL: THE LAMBO OF SOLAR BUILDS

ZERO BILL: THE LAMBO OF SOLAR BUILDS

Ever dreamed of not paying a single peso on your monthly electric bill? Good news! It is definitely not a dream anymore because here at Solaric, we make it possible.

What exactly is a #ZeroBill?

What exactly is a #ZeroBill?

A zero bill is simply what is says: your monthly electric bill is a zero. In other words, in that section where your balance due is indicated, the amount is exactly Php0.00.

Is it actually possible?

Sometimes, homeowners are interested in going solar and they install a small sized system or an average sized system (in relation to their monthly power consumption). Their monthly electric bills decrease from 30% to 80%, and they are thrilled. There are some homeowners, however, that decide to install an extra large solar panel system. This is what is referred to as the Zero Bill Build. When a homeowner installs a system three times the power production than their home’s power consumption, then the obvious result is that their solar offsets their daytime consumption. All the surplus power produced by their system is exported to the grid. The combination of these factors results in a zero or negative utility bill.

Making the choice

Some people purchase a car for convenience, or for affordability, or for efficiency. Such individuals will be seen in sedans or SUVs. Other people buy expensive cars, because they can, and because they know exactly what they want – and that’s where the pay-off lies. In the same way, a zero bill build system will be much more expensive. It will take up all your roof space. But imagine not paying a centavo on your electric bill on the long run, how fulfilling can that be? That is its pay-off.

Net metering comes to play

With a grid tie system, a zero bill is not possible if you don’t apply for net metering program with Meralco or your utility company. Through this program, you don’t only offset your daytime loads but also the night time loads. The tactic is to sell so much excess energy to the utility company that the credits you earn will offset your evening consumption.

A consumer and a provider

Going solar means you get to generate your own power. You use this harvested power for your daily needs and the bonus is you get to provide power for others while getting paid for exporting power. We constantly get yellow and red alerts which means there is insufficient supply of power on our grid. Our population continues to grow thus the demand for power increases.

“We must continue to explore other sources of energy. Gone are the days when we need to depend on coal and other non-renewable sources,” said Mike De Guzman, President and CEO of Solaric Corp. “The Philippines is blessed with the free, unlimited and abundant source of the sun’s energy. It’s clean, safe, sustainable and will continue to be accessible for the next 5 billion years – more than enough to pay for the system with a typical ROI of 5 years! Why waste it? It’s time to turn on the sun.”

FROM 11K TO 3K: OGIE & HIS 9kWp GRID TIE SYSTEM

FROM 11K TO 3K: OGIE & HIS 9kWp GRID TIE SYSTEM

In 2019, our client’s average bill for his residence in Parañaque was 11k monthly. He initially installed a 5kWp, and after seeing his bill drop, he installed another 4kWp. The total capacity is now a 9kWp Grid Tie System. Equipped with their rooftop solar power plant, the family uses Unli-AC and never have to worry about power usage and consumption.

Ogie wanted a company that could deliver on the promise – a company that carries Tier1 panels and top quality brands, one that is reliable with a solid reputation. His goal was a drastic drop in the electric bill in 2019 which ranged from 9k to 11k each month. Daytime appliances include aircons, lights, refrigerator, TVs, computers, and swimming pool.

Fast forward 3 years later: “With my 9kWp system, my bill ranges now from Php3,000 to Php3,200,” says Ogie, yet another satisfied client of Solaric. “My savings each month is Php6,000 to Php8,000, so I’m very happy. The Solaric team is very efficient!”

Lower Bill vs Zero Bill

Think about your end goal when choosing to install solar. Do you want to reduce your bill? Or do you want to ELIMINATE your bill? At the bare minimum, you should put enough solar to cover the usual daytime appliances of the entire household.

Go Green, Go Renewable

When you get your own solar power plant on your rooftop: you reduce your electric bill expenses, AND you reduce your carbon footprint – which means that you are helping protect the environment. A typical Solaric system eliminates more than four tons of CO2 per year which is equivalent to planting 50 trees each year. You become less dependent on traditional sources of non-renewable energy.

ZERO BILL FEATURE: GERRY & HIS 12.4kWp GRID TIE SYSTEM

ZERO BILL FEATURE: GERRY & HIS 12.4kWp GRID TIE SYSTEM

Solaric can absolutely deliver the Zero Bill promise. Just ask Gerry Vaño, another satisfied Solaric client.

In an exclusive, gated, private neighborhood of a quiet subdivision in the South, stands the majestic, beautiful, 500 square meter, 3-bedroom contemporary Filipino-style solar home of Gerry – one of our very first Zero Bill clients. Since 2018, he’s been enjoying the happiness and rewards of a #ZeroBill. With a 12.4 kWp Grid Tie System installed on his roofdeck, his monthly bill went from 11k to ZERO.

In 2017, Gerry decided to install solar panels. He approached Solaric and they conducted a comprehensive site survey. His household appliances included a washing machine, dryer, two refrigerators, two water pumps, three television sets, 11 air conditioners, and a home theater. His electric bill amounted to an average of 10 to 11 thousand pesos each month. Solaric offered an array of solar options that would give him optimum power at the lowest cost. Gerry selected efficiency and long-term financial feasibility by having 40 rooftop solar panels installed (12.4kWp).

A couple months after installing solar, Gerry received his first Zero Bill (total amount due was Php0.00 in his monthly electric bill). “The moment the Net Metering kicked in, I got a Zero Bill. Then, all succeeding months were all zero bills!” exclaimed Gerry, as he showed us his stack of zero bills accumulated the past year.

When asked to discuss the profitability of his solar power system, Gerry paused for a moment’s reflection. “Yes, I’m able to save 10 to 11 thousand a month. But we don’t talk about ROI (return on investment) in these cases. Anong ROI in buying an expensive car? Pogi points!” Gerry laughed in amusement. “It’s really about utilizing whatever is renewable, and solar was the only thing that was feasible. I’ve been planning on installing solar even before the house was constructed.”

The Zero Bill Phenomenon

The Zero Bill Phenomenon

Gerry brings the zero bill phenomenon towards the limelight. “What does the zero bill mean to me? Sure, one part of it is about savings – I have a monthly electric bill that says zero. It makes everyone in the house scream with happiness. On the other hand, my investment pay-off is renewable energy. Sustainability. I care about the environment and the planet. This is my contribution to saving our future. That is what makes solar worth it!”

How To Choose The Right Size For Your Solar System

How To Choose The Right Size For Your Solar System

The best investment you can make this year: rooftop solar. Investing in solar is the smart solution for homeowners and business owners. Solar is easy to maintain and operate, plus it comes with long-term performance (25 to 30 years) and lowers your carbon footprint.

You would want to know how to correctly size your solar power system so you can achieve your goals and make the most of your grid tie solar system.

STEP 1: DETERMINE HOW MUCH SAVINGS YOU WANT FROM YOUR SOLAR

STEP 1: DETERMINE HOW MUCH SAVINGS YOU WANT FROM YOUR SOLAR

This is an important first step. You should define your financial goals (how much savings you want). Are you looking at 30% savings? 50% savings? 75% savings? Or are you looking at getting that coveted Zero Bill? This is also in line with several other factors, such as budget, rooftop space, location, power consumption patterns, etc. The goal is to size your PV array to achieve your end goal.

STEP 2: ANALYZE YOUR POWER CONSUMPTION PATTERNS

STEP 2: ANALYZE YOUR POWER CONSUMPTION PATTERNS

Different households or facilities use power differently. There are some households with children in the home all throughout the day, using power in a homeschooling setup. Other households have no one in the house during the daytime, and most power consumption is at night time. When the Solaric engineer conducts a site survey or site assessment, all these factors are considered, along with other elements such as rooftop space, shading, etc., prior to preparing the design of your solar system. There are various constraints on every project and such restrictions affect design and system size: budget, space, and energy offset. We want to design and build a system for you that offsets a certain percentage of your nighttime power consumption.

STEP 3: CALCULATE YOUR kWh USAGE

STEP 3: CALCULATE YOUR kWh USAGE

Your usage in kilowatt-hours (kWh) can be obtained from your electric bill. It is ideal to provide copies of several months of bills to our engineer, so that they can be analyzed. Energy spikes and consumption are usually highest in the summer, with heavy use of aircons and appliances during those months. The most ideal way to determine your average monthly kWh usage is to add up your kWh consumption for 12 months, then divide the figure by 12 to get your average monthly consumption. Divide by 30 to determine your daily kWh usage. Another way to determine your usage is to use your appliances and plug them in a power consumption table. Alternatively, our engineers can also check your basetime loads during their site assessment.

STEP 4: CALCULATE THE SIZE OF YOUR SYSTEM

Once you have determined your daily kWh power requirement, divide it by the Peak Sun Hours of your location to get the kW output. From there, we can identify how many solar panels you will need for your system, that is in line with your end goal of going solar.

STEP 5: CONSIDER OTHER FACTORS

Lastly, it is also crucial to fine tune the system design. Other factors should be taken into account, such as the mounting system that will be needed for your rooftop, the direction the panels will face, surrounding trees or elements that may cause shading, equipment type, conduit run, net metering requirements – all these play a vital role in finalizing system design.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A #ZEROBILL?

The Zero Bill Trend and What It Is All About

ZERO BILL HOUSE IN CAVITE: If you need us to build you the legendary zero bill solar panel system or want to learn how to start a potent solar setup, give us a call at 09178603141, 09083775577, 75040092, or email us at info@solaric.com.ph. Let’s get you started on your ZERO BILL journey!

What is a ZeroBill home?

An asian man worried about his electricity bill

A “Zero Bill” home is a household with an electric bill of Php0.00 each month. This is also referred to as a net-home or a zero-energy building – and it means it produces as much power as it consumes, making it very financially lucrative. Such homes or businesses create their energy through renewable sources such as solar.

What’s the difference between regular houses?

A globe of the Earth surrounded by smoke pollution

Regular homes that are not utilizing renewable sources of energy are largely dependent on fossil fuels. Conventional electrical grid power contributes significantly to climate problems we are experiencing globally today.

Going zero

A lightbulb with a plant growing inside of it

When you use solar to provide electricity using solar panels, it is extremely cost-effective plus you help protect the environment. Since solar equipment and energy costs have drastically decreased over the course of the last decade, solar is considered to be one of the cheapest sources of power available today.

Grid Tie and Zero Bill

Representation of renewable energy

People often ask if it’s possible to have a grid tie AND get a zero bill. Having a grid-tie solar panel system means that your home’s solar is linked to your utility provider, otherwise referred to as the electrical grid. This is the most common type of solar energy system in Metro Manila – because power from the grid is relatively stable and this setup does not require batteries. With a grid tie system, you can apply for Net Metering with your utility company, wherein excess power generated by the solar panels is exported to the grid. That exported power is credited to you and results in reducing your electric bill. When you earn credits that are more than the power you consume, then the result is a #ZeroBill.

SOLARIC DELIVERS THE ZERO BILL PHENOMENON

SOLARIC DELIVERS THE ZERO BILL PHENOMENON

The Solar Gamechangers Talk About How They Deliver the #ZeroBill

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
March 21, 2019

The Zero Bill: Is it real?

Zero bill clients are starting to pop up from different cities: Makati, Muntinlupa, Quezon City. In the Philippines, solar systems, something perceived by many as a mystery, are now fast becoming a reality to them. Let us take a look at Lito, a client who lives in an exclusive, gated subdivision in the prime center of Makati City. His electric bill averages to about Php30,000 each month. His household daytime appliances include a washing machine, three television sets, a dryer, a chest freezer, five air conditioner units, and a swimming pool pump. Six years ago, he installed a 5 kWp grid-tie solar system and registered for Meralco’s Net Metering Program with Peak/Off-Peak (POP). Less than a year later, his electric bill hit zero. Yes, the total amount due was a whopping Php0.00.

The translation

What does the zero bill translate to? It means that the household now uses the sun as a means of power, especially during the daytime. Laundry can be done daily using the washing machine and dryer, without worrying about the power consumption of the dryer and its peso equivalent. A zero bill means all aircons in the house can be turned on during the daytime, and family members can lounge around indoors, feet propped up on the couch, with Netflix and popcorn, in the luxury of guilt-free AC. Why? The investment in a solar system in the Philippines pays off. ROI is typically within 3 to 5 years. The benefits are forever.

The choice of a solar lifestyle

When Filipinos contemplate on buying rooftop solar, people have a wide range of reasons and reflections. Some want to save money. Some want to profit. Some want to keep up with the pace of technology. Most want to be smart: they want to consume power and produce power at the same time. Installing rooftop solar is a win-win decision for everyone and everything: homes, factories, warehouses, storage facilities, cold storage plants, establishments, farms, hotels, resorts, hospitals, schools, buildings, and more. Everyone wants to be paid for providing clean solar power to the grid. The only way to do that is to get solar. At the same time, you contribute to a clean, safe, healthy, sustainable, and renewable future.

How to get that zero bill

There are various ways to set up solar so that you will never have to pay for power again.  Check out our website for a free site inspection today.

The leading option that has become the nation’s trend is installing a large solar power system because that is how to guarantee a zero bill.

Learn more about solar power systems and solar panel prices here.

Why solar is the best investment this 2019

A large solar power system makes sense both financially and environmentally. Buying and installing solar increases your property value. Whether you install solar at the house, office, building, warehouse, factory, farm – the market and property value increases. Now, with more people becoming even more educated about solar, the demand for solar properties is the highest it has ever been.

How to become a consumer and a provider

The best option to guarantee a zero bill is to install a large solar system, one with enough rooftop solar so that the credits you receive from the utility company from exporting surplus electricity reduces your bill to zero. In other words, the surplus electricity from your solar system will be exported to the grid. This will offset your consumption from the grid.

Breaking it down for every Juan

In layman’s terms: have a solar solutions team install plenty of solar panels on your roof and generate enough power. Then export this power to the utility company. In doing this, you do not have to pay a single centavo on your electric bills. Better yet, you get paid for the electricity that you will provide. The zero bill is a benefit from being a consumer and provider.

The king of rooftop solar

Solaric is the recognized king of rooftop solar. Solaric has established its name across the renewable industry as a proven and reputable rooftop solar leader. Backed by decades of experience, Solaric has installed more than 50% of residential rooftop solar in the Philippines and has delivered significant cost reductions in electricity expenses, as well as milestone contributions to a cleaner, greener, and renewable future. Solaric is now becoming the recognized leader in corporate and industrial solar projects. The Solaric installers and engineers are well-known troubleshooting experts. They work hard to ensure that solar panel systems run efficiently and seamlessly so that everyone with rooftop solar can enjoy the benefits of clean and renewable power. WHY AREN’T WE BUILDING MORE ZERO BILL HOMES?

Solar system panel information

REGINA ROME

What the Philippines needs

Perhaps it’s time for the Philippines to join the trend towards sustainability more proactively. The planet is gearing towards eco-friendly housing developments, green buildings, and renewable energy. It’s time that the entire population of the Philippines uses solar energy.

What’s the hype on solar about?

We need to implement a workable plan to deliver a higher quality of life for Filipinos. That means improvements in energy efficiency and going large scale in terms of renewable energy production. That will lead to a turning point where we can all make a difference in the future of our planet. Where is the future of our construction industry headed? We need to adapt to tools that can deliver this evolution towards solar energy and renewable energy. Rooftop solar is the win-win solution. Everyone is now aware of climate change and fossil fuel hazards. The government promotes it – now we just need to become part of the solution, rather than continue to contribute to environmental problems. It is 2019, and we should now start talking about building houses with zero bills. That is perhaps the most important and phenomenal concept of current technology.

Zero Bill Homes

Carbon neutral homes with rooftop solar are the ones that can easily produce zero bills. What exactly is a zero bill? It’s pretty simple and straightforward: it means free electricity. Free power. Every homeowner, entrepreneur, and business executive want free power. There is an undeniable clamor for guilt-free power. Imagine every Filipino relaxing in the comforting, cool atmosphere of an air-conditioned room, especially in the midst of the tormenting daytime summer heat of the tropical Philippines. With a solar power system in place, there virtually every single homeowner can become a consumer and a producer of power at the same time. How is this possible? The homeowner simply needs to install solar and avail of Net Metering. Then the homeowner gets paid for providing clean solar power to the grid. He does not just use the power, he produces power as well. The results? First, he will enjoy the benefits and luxury of free power (including guilt-free aircon). Second, he will enjoy the advantage of a zero bill – meaning he pays zero, or nothing, to the electric company each and every single month.

Time to go unli

Yes, it requires all homeowners to actually get on board. Think zero energy home. Think zero bill home. The trend is contagious. Think about your current electricity consumption. Now, imagine unli-electricity.

GERRY LOVES HIS ZERO BILL

GERRY LOVES HIS ZERO BILL

A Satisfied Solaric Client Shows Us His Solar Home

In an exclusive, gated, private neighborhood of a quiet subdivision in the South, stands a majestic, beautiful, 500 square meter, 3-bedroom contemporary Filipino-style solar home. Solaric can absolutely deliver the Zero Bill promise. Just ask Gerry, another satisfied Solaric client.

The choice to go solar

In 2017, Gerry decided to install solar panels at home. He approached Solaric and they conducted a site inspection. His daily household appliances included a washing machine, dryer, two refrigerators, two water pumps, three television sets, 11 air conditioners, and a home theater. His electric bill amounted to an average of 10 to 11 thousand pesos each month. Solaric offered an array of solar options that would give him optimum power at the lowest cost. Gerry selected efficiency and long-term financial feasibility by having 40 rooftop solar panels installed (12 kilowatts).

The reward of going solar

A couple months after installing solar, Gerry received his first Zero Bill (total amount due of Php0.00 in his monthly electric bill).

“The moment the Net Metering kicked in, I got a Zero Bill. Then, all succeeding months were all zero bills!” exclaimed Gerry, as he showed us his stack of zero bills accumulated the past year.

All about the pogi points

When asked to discuss the profitability of his solar power system, Gerry paused for a moment’s reflection. “Yes, I’m able to save 10 to 11 thousand a month. But we don’t talk about ROI (return on investment) in these cases. Anong ROI in buying an expensive car? Pogi points!” Gerry laughs in amusement. “It’s really about utilizing whatever is renewable, and solar was the only thing that was feasible. I’ve been planning on installing solar even before the house was constructed.”

Zeroing in on the zero bill

Gerry brings the zero bill phenomenon unders a different light.

TITA LOURDES AND THE ETERNAL HAPPINESS STORY #ZeroBill

TITA LOURDES AND THE ETERNAL HAPPINESS STORY #ZeroBill

 Who is Tita Lourdes?

Who is Tita Lourdes?

In a private, gated, and exclusive subdivision, situated within the first-class highly urbanized city of Las Piñas, is the modest 500 square meter house and lot property of Tita Lourdes. The bungalow has three bedrooms and contains the typical household appliances of a Filipino family: air conditioning units, big refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer, among others.

Before talking about how solar systems in the Philippines, let’s rewind to 2014, when Tita Lourdes and her husband were consumed and infuriated by the power interruptions and sky high electric bills. The power bill was alarming, running to approximately P15,000 each month. They decided it was time to make some drastic changes. The solution: to indulge in some bill saving measures.

Thinking about solar

Solar energy has taken the lead in providing renewable energy to countries all over the planet. In the Philippines, it has become the cleanest, safest, and most financially sensible option to reduce those monthly electric bills. When Filipinos contemplate on buying rooftop solar, they typically have a long list of reasons and reflections. Some want to save money. Some want to profit. Some want to keep up with the pace of technology. Some are simply concerned about the environment and the world. But the number one reason that convinces a Filipino to go solar is the ultimate end result: the #ZeroBill.

What the #ZeroBill is all about

The #ZeroBill is simple: it means free electricity. Everyone indulges in anything that is free. Who doesn’t want free power? Imagine relaxing in the comforting, cool atmosphere of an air conditioned room, especially in the midst of the tormenting daytime Philippines heat. With a solar power system in place, there is now an opportunity for every homeowner to be a consumer and a producer of power at the same time. How is this possible? Homeowners get paid for providing clean solar power to the grid. You don’t just use the power, you produce it too. This simply means that you enjoy the benefits and luxury of free power.

Tita Lourdes decided to go big

Tita Lourdes decided to go big

Tita Lourdes decided that she wanted a large solar power system because it made more sense financially and environmentally. Not only would it increase her property value, it would also be her way of contributing to a cleaner world to live in. She wanted a zero bill – guaranteed. Tita Lourdes approached Solaric, the leader in residential rooftop solar, and asked them to install enough rooftop solar that would give her that much coveted #ZeroBill.

Solaric and the #ZeroBill

Solaric conducted a site inspection of her house and rooftop, taking into consideration the rooftop space, sun exposure, and other factors. The Solaric team explained to Tita Lourdes that in order to have a zero bill, the power that her system produces should be more than the power that her household consumes. This then means that the excess power from her system can be exported to the grid, which the power company now buys back. This will offset the cost of grid supply charges. This was the essence of the #ZeroBill.

Breaking it down in simple terms

It is pretty straightforward and simple. Put plenty of solar panels on your roof and generate enough power. Then, export this power to the electric company through the Net Metering Program. In doing this, you get paid for the electricity that you will export. The #ZeroBill phenomenon is actually a benefit from being a consumer and provider.

In pursuit of eternal happiness

Tita Lourdes spent P500,000 on 22 panels. We revisited her ten months later and there it was, a stack of zero bills. We compared her electric bills from previous years, which reflected amounts ranging from between P10,000 to P15,000. Now all her new bills were a flat P0.00.

“The money I saved? I used it for traveling, my grandchildren’s education, and pampering myself,” exclaimed Tita Lourdes, as she held a stack of zero bills in her hand and bubbled with uncontrollable laughter.

When asked if she would recommend Solaric, Tita Lourdes leaned forward with a grin and said, “Absolutely! It’s a great company. They have great staff, people who know what they’re doing. They’re honest and I have no problem contacting them at any time! Great service too. Definitely worth the investment!”
