There is no forever with non-renewable energy
Non-renewable energy is defined as a natural resource that comes from sources that will eventually run out or will not be replenished, even in millions of years. Some examples of non-renewable resources include fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. These resources are constantly being drawn at a speed in which they cannot be replaced. With today’s era of high-speed developments and industrialization, the amount of non-renewable resources we consume now is simply not sustainable. As the global population continues to boom, the consumption of non-renewable resources increases proportionately, just as the demand for energy and power booms. Simultaneous to this is the real and ever-growing threat of climate change. As resources become scarce and the demand for energy continues to rise, the planet needs to find a supply that will not run out at the same pace we consume them.
The rise of renewable energy
Unlike fossil fuels, renewable energy is sustainable because it is generated by sources that will not run out. Since solar is a renewable, this resource can be used repeatedly and does not run out as it is replaced naturally. As the continuous innovation in renewable energy continues, the demand for renewable power increases and the costs to produce and deliver clean energy in the future decrease. The most significant element, however, is the fact that it offers us the benefit of decreasing our carbon footprint by offsetting the pollution caused by relying on non-renewable sources. Having better solar and panel technology and design is a good example of how far we have reached when it comes to development and innovation in green energy. The solar panels, for example, are much more efficient now and better at converting the sun’s rays into emission-free energy. The costs are also much lower now too compared to before.
The sun, as long as it continues to shine, will no doubt provide us with an unlimited source of energy. Harnessing the sun’s power will help in this time on which we should be more aggressive in shifting towards a clean energy future. Now is the time to stop depending on non-renewable sources and instead focus on a much more versatile, clean, and sustainable source of energy.
