BEHIND THE SCENES: TECHNICAL STUFF ABOUT SOLAR PANEL SYSTEMS

BEHIND THE SCENES: TECHNICAL STUFF ABOUT SOLAR PANEL SYSTEMS

Solar panel mounting structure

Solar panel mounting structure

A solar system in the Philippines comes with a type of racking system or mounting system. The mounting structure varies and is dependent on the type of roof because it is what is used to fasten the solar panels to the roof itself. It is also what connects each solar panel to the other solar panels. Reputable solar installers only offer mounting solutions for solar systems that are storm-resilient and can remain intact despite sustained wind speeds of over 140 miles per hour. Most solar panels and systems are certified to withstand winds of up to 2,400 pascals. Yes, they are strong, powerful, and can survive typhoons and hurricanes.

Inverters

Inverters of solar panel systems or solar power systems are usually referred to as the brain of the system. The power inverter unit converts the direct current (DC) produced by the solar panels into alternating current (AC), which is what is utilized by the household appliances inside the home. In a Grid Tie system setup, the inverter is also what connects the solar panel system to the utility grid (Meralco). There are many manufacturers and models of inverters available in the market, with different features and efficiencies and ratings, as requirements vary depending on solar system installation project. It is best to select an inverter brand and model that is most feasible for your solar array or solar panel system.

Installation

Installation

Who should install the solar panel system? Professional solar installers, of course. You should only deal with reputable solar companies who have established a long list of satisfied clients and who is a recognized leader in the industry. The company should have engineers, electricians, and installers who are solar experts, with thousands of solar rooftop installations to their belt.

All these technical variables also play critical roles in solar rooftop PV installations. It is important to ask questions about the solar company you choose, to help you make the wisest decision and make the best investment. You want to make sure you get the most solar value for your money.

HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN SAVE MONEY BY GOING SOLAR

HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN SAVE MONEY BY GOING SOLAR

Solar energy in the Philippines has become the top renewable choice all over the world since it is sustainable and cost-effective – especially now with the constantly rising electricity prices. Additionally, the cost of purchasing and installing a solar power system or solar panel system has fast become a wise and sound business investment, considering that entrepreneurs make their money back in five years, then profit from the investment for the next 20 years. What many businessmen have to understand is this: installing a solar panel system may seem like a significant investment initially, but it can provide multiple long-term advantages.

Energy Cost Savings

Power Is Available All Day

“It is not just about reducing utility bills. There’s a much larger picture and it involves the planet and the future. It’s about clean, sustainable, renewable energy and how important it is,” said Jade De Guzman, Vice President of Solaric Corp., the recognized leader in rooftop solar in the Philippines. “The energy savings from a solar system are substantial. A solar system owner in the Philippines can reduce power costs from 35% to 75% by going solar. The typical 100kWp rooftop grid-tie commercial solar installation yields savings of an estimated Php1.2 Million per year, and that is a conservative figure.”

Outright purchase or PPA?

There are two options for businesses. One is to do an outright purchase of the solar panel system, which is known to be the wiser and more ROI-savvy option. Second is to enjoy the benefits of solar without making an investment through what is called a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). In this arrangement, the solar provider supplies energy to the client under terms and conditions, at an agreed-upon rate, for a period of time such as 25 years. The PPA approach has helped non-profits achieve energy savings over the long-term.

Outright purchase stats

Outright purchase stats

Solar Digital Squad data reflects that businesses pay off their solar power system outright purchase investments within three to seven years. It is after achieving ROI that businesses can actually reap the benefits and enjoy free electricity for the next 20 years and more.

“Buying and investing in a solar power system is like buying 20 years of electric bills on prepaid. At very, very low rates. On top of that, solar panels usually come with 25-year performance guarantees. It’s a no-brainer. It’s a win-win business decision all the way around,” said Solaric President Mike De Guzman. “On top of all that, solar power systems are very low maintenance. The system just needs to be cleaned typically once a year. The most important advantage for the business is NOT the savings, though. It’s about avoiding non-renewable energy sources. It’s about the battle against climate change. It’s about being environmentally aware and responsible. It’s about supporting green business goals and creating an impact.”

WHAT HAPPENS TO SOLAR PANELS WHEN IT RAINS?

WHAT HAPPENS TO SOLAR PANELS WHEN IT RAINS

Is going solar a smart move?

Is going solar a smart move

In the tropical country of the Philippines, it is easy to see and understand why going solar is a smart move and a wise investment. The question that always surfaces is straightforward and simple: what about the rainy days? How does rain affect the solar panels in the Philippines? What about clouds? Does solar work on cloudy days?

All about the energy output

Solar energy output is indeed affected by various factors, and this includes variations in weather and climate. On a clear, bright, sunny day in the Philippines, the system’s power graph forms a bell curve. Highest energy production typically happens around noon, when the sun is brightest. These are the times when the solar panels operate most efficiently.

Now, what about the cloudy days and the rainy days?

Now, what about the cloudy days and the rainy days

On the other hand, during cloudy days, solar panels in the Philippines still do work – since the rays of the sun still find their way to shine through the clouds and the rain. However, since sunlight is limited, then it follows that energy production is limited as well. The actual amount of electricity generated during such days is dependent on the density of cloud coverage. Thus, the solar panel system’s production is not as consistent and considerably reduced during cloudy days and rainy days.

Can battery storage help me during the rainy days?

Batteries can be the option where you can store energy and use power during less productive periods or power outages, and that includes even night time. That way, you can you more of the power you generate from your solar panel system. Batteries, however, are expensive and deteriorate quickly when they are “cycled” often – which means when you power them up then drained them. The life cycle of batteries is 5 to 10 years. It is best to consult solar experts to determine the best options for you, and if battery storage is ideal for your setup.

EVEN THE DOGS LOVE SOLAR

Even Dogs Love Solar

A dog breeder from Laguna talks about how solar panels in the Philippines benefits his home and his business

David from Laguna

David’s 2-storey home stands in an exclusive, private, gated subdivision in Biñan City, Laguna, where he resides with his wife, two children, and househelp. On a typical day, the appliances that the household runs include a washing machine, dryer, aircon, television, fans, and refrigerator. The house is equipped with four air conditioning units, including the living room. In 2018, David’s electric bill amounted to approximately Php15,000 to Php16,000 each month.

Expenses started to pile up

Expenses started to pile up

However, David suffered a stroke during the summer of 2018. He could not continue working for his employer, so he passed on his work responsibilities to his eldest daughter. It was then that he started to notice the household expenses piling up. After exploring potential solutions, he decided to invest in a solar panel in the Philippines.

Finding the right solar company

Using the sun to run daytime appliances is a technological development and finding the right solar company involves various critical factors: the right size of the solar panel system, type of system, permits, design, engineering, equipment, installation, energization, cleaning, and maintenance. In a typical residential scenario, solar engineers should conduct a site survey, examine the electrical usage patterns and identify the appliances used by the home during the day and night time, determine the power consumption, and identify how much solar energy the roof can generate based on different factors and using precise computations. From there, they can forecast solar impact on electric bills with the desired solar panel system installation. It is important to find a solar company with a sterling reputation, backed by a long list of satisfied clients, along with years of experience in both residential, commercial, industrial, and military solar projects.

The choice to go Solaric

THE CHOICE TO GO SOLARIC

David contacted Solaric and requested a site survey. The solar professionals and engineers went to his home, examined the property, roof, solar capacity, and its surrounding area. They then evaluated the solar project potential or capability. The solar experts analyzed David’s string of recent electric bills. They determined the most appropriate solar panel installation for his home. They then designed a solar panel system that could produce enough power to meet the home’s consumption or usage and sent him a detailed proposal.

“Maraming solar companies ang tinawagan ko. Ang Solaric lang ang sumagot sa tanong ko. Immediately, umakyat sa bubong at binigyan ako ng layout,” said David about why he decided to choose Solaric Corp., the recognized leader in rooftop solar in the Philippines.

Solar panel system installation

David approved the quote from Solaric and initially installed a 5-kilowatt peak (kWp) grid-tie system of 20 solar panels on the roof. Once he noticed that there was a significant decrease in his bill, he called Solaric to install more solar on his roof.

“Para akong na-addict sa solar. Gusto kong ma ZERO out ang Meralco bill ko,” confessed David.

After installing more solar, David had a 9.6kWp solar system with a total of 30 solar panels on his roof. His electric bill gradually decreased through the months, until his Meralco bill finally became an average of only Php2,000 each month.

David was thrilled with the results and savings of his solar system. “Pang bili ko na ng gamot itong sobra. Sulit talaga magpakabit ng solar!”

Guilt-free AC

Guilt-free AC

On the side, David started a business of breeding Pomeranian dogs, which required round the clock aircon. He realized that installing solar was perfect for the business. “Walang guilt sa kuryente. Solaric is one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life.”

David is one of the thousands of satisfied clients of Solaric, who are experiencing the benefits and effects of going solar: significant money savings and profit from the investment, on top of protecting the environment and helping pave the way towards a sustainable and renewable future.

DOES SOLAR NEED BATTERIES?

DOES SOLAR NEED BATTERIES

The perennial question: does solar need batteries?

The straight, simple answer: not necessarily.

Why?

In order to answer the Why question, we will need to dive into the topic of Grid Tie Solar. Grid-tie solar systems are the most common and most widely used, especially in homes and businesses in the Philippines today. Grid-tie solar system in the Philippines interconnects solar power with grid power. These solar systems do not use batteries. They do not need batteries, because there is no need to store power. When it is daytime, the power comes from solar. When it’s night time, the power comes from the grid. There’s another plus factor with a grid-tie system. When you use more electricity than your solar is producing, then you will start importing from the grid – in other words, you will be consuming electricity from the utility company. When you produce more power than you consume, the excess or surplus power generated can be exported to the grid using the Net Metering program of the utility company. The exported power is paid via credits, which can be used later on. Electricity sent to the grid from your solar system can then be used by other consumers on the grid (such as your neighbors). If you want to lower your electric bills and reduce it from 30% to 70%, or even eliminate it and make it a #ZeroBill, then the On-Grid system is the best solution. You save money and you reduce your carbon footprint, thus saving the environment at the same time.

What about the solar systems that have batteries?

What about the solar systems that have batteries

There are, of course, some clients who require the reliability of instant backup power. That can only be provided by solar systems with batteries. With an off-grid solar system or hybrid solar system, you can maximize excess solar harvest by storing the power in the batteries for evening consumption. Batteries provide a buffer, for times when the sun is not enough and loads have to be continuously supplied with sustained energy.

The talk about lithium

The best kind of batteries that technology has to offer in the market today are lithium batteries. Solaric has installed hundreds of solar panel systems with batteries for clients all throughout the archipelago, including commercial, industrial, and military clients. There are some projects that require zero power outages, such as radar or mission-critical communication systems. In such instances, Solaric has designed customized solar systems that power entire islands or radar facilities – those that have zero diesel, zero oil, and zero grid.

And then there’s SMILE

And then there’s SMILE

SMILE Lithium battery hybrid system: a European design award winner and very popular in countries where the government actually pays the consumer to put in batteries to help manage the grid. It works like the regular grid-tie solar system in the Philippines but with a twist — a smart system that detects if there is excess power and diverts it proportionately to battery charging, before selling it to the utility for a discount. It also detects when the entire house is starting to use grid power. When that happens, it proportionately discharges the battery, keeping grid power consumption to zero until the batteries run out. In times of calamities or power outages, it can supply a steady 5000w of critical loads until the batteries run out, and gets recharged by the sun the next day. This setup is highly beneficial and self-sustaining. Again, these types of setups are requested by those who are serious in disaster management or are in power-starved locations. Such systems like these are expensive and cost about 50% to 70% more than the grid-tie systems.

ON-GRID VS OFF-GRID

ON-GRID VS OFF-GRID

On-Grid Solar

On-Grid Solar

On-Grid solar panel systems, otherwise known as Grid Tie, are the most common and most widely used by homes and businesses globally. On-Grid solar panels in the Philippines blend or interconnect solar power with grid power using solar inverters. These systems do not need batteries. When you produce more power than you consume, the excess or surplus power generated can be exported to the grid using the Net Metering program of the utility company. The exported power is paid via credits, which can be used later on. Electricity sent to the grid from your solar system can then be used by other consumers on the grid (such as your neighbors). When you use more electricity than your solar is producing, then you will start importing from the grid – in other words, you will be consuming electricity from the utility company.

Benefits of On-Grid or Grid-Tie Solar

The top three benefits of On-Grid: most efficient system, fastest ROI, and most cost effective to install. These are the simplest systems and come highly recommended because the systems pay for themselves by offsetting utility bills. ROI is typically between 3 to 5 years for the typical average sized 5kWp solar panel in the Philippines of a Filipino homeowner.

Disadvantages of On-Grid Solar

Disadvantages of On-Grid Solar

On-Grid systems can only generate power when the grid power is available. During power outages, there will be no power from the solar system, because on-grid solar systems are not able to function or generate electricity during a blackout due to safety reasons.

If you want to lower your electric bills and reduce it from 30% to 70%, or even eliminate it and make it a #ZeroBill, then the On-Grid system is the best solution. You save money and you reduce your carbon footprint, thus saving the environment at the same time.

Off-Grid Solar

Off-Grid systems are not connected to the electricity grid and therefore requires storage of power in batteries. Off-Grid systems allow you to store your solar power in batteries for use later on. Power is first sent to the batteries, and then to the appliances. In an off-grid setup, you are not on the grid, meaning even if the grid has a power outage, you are not affected. An off-grid system should be designed appropriately so that it generates sufficient power and have enough battery capacity to meet the requirements of the facility – whether it be a home or a business. Designing an off-grid system with the right solar array size is complex. Professionals and engineers need to conduct a detailed analysis and comprehensive study of your load requirements and your minimal critical needs.

Benefits of Off-Grid Solar

Benefits of Off-Grid Solar

The number one advantage and number one benefit of off-grid solar is the fact that it provides power for your loads even when there is no grid power or even in the midst of a city-wide power outage.

Disadvantages of Off-Grid Solar

The high cost of batteries dictates that off-grid solar systems are much more expensive than on-grid systems. They cost about four to five times more than on-grid systems. Ideal setups that require off-grid solar are remote, power-starved areas or locations, the ones that do not have grid power. Off-Grid systems are costly to install as they require a string inverter, batteries, and charge controller. Then there’s the issue of ongoing maintenance and periodic replacement of the batteries.

Conclusion

Off-grid systems are not recommended for the average Filipino home or business. They are not cost effective and they do not achieve ROI within five years, due to the higher costs involved. The usual recommendation is to install an On-Grid solar system and invest in a backup generator, in the event of power outages. That is the most cost-effective and most efficient solution available today.

DOES SOLAR WORK WHEN IT’S RAINING?

DOES SOLAR WORK WHEN IT’S RAINING

What happens exactly to the solar panels?

What happens exactly to the solar panels

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels use both direct or indirect sunlight to generate power – however, PV panels are most effective in direct sunlight. What about when it is cloudy, or when the light is blocked by clouds? Your Solar panels in the Philippines will still work, but will not harvest as much power as they would when the sun is shining bright.

Myth buster: Solar does work when it’s raining

When it’s raining, solar power systems still work – they still generate power. Solar panels operate at maximum efficiency in the midst of the full, bright sun, but your solar panels in the Philippines don’t stop when it’s cloudy or raining. Why? It is because visible light still gets through the rain and clouds. Rain also does something good for solar panels. The rain actually helps clean the solar panels, which in turn causes the panels to operate more efficiently because dust and dirt are washed away. Just think of it this way. When it’s raining, the solar panels do not produce as much electricity as they’d normally do a sunny day, but they get cleaned, so it’s like sending the car to the car wash.

Is that a fact?

Is that a fact

Yes, people still struggle with believing the fact that solar still works during cloudy and rainy days. Let’s look at it from another perspective. If solar only worked in sunny places, then how does Germany produce 20% to 30% of all its energy from solar? Here’s the answer in a nutshell: clouds do not stop the solar ultraviolet rays from shining through, which hits the PV panels and get converted to electricity. Solar companies should be transparent with their clients, however, when providing ROI analysis. In simple calculations in the Philippines, we calculate using 4.5 hours of solar harvest, to take into account the hours that the sun is shining bright. That way, clients have realistic expectations of savings from their solar systems.

6-YEAR OLD TEACHES US ABOUT GRID TIE SOLAR ON FACEBOOK

6-YEAR OLD TEACHES US ABOUT GRID TIE SOLAR ON FACEBOOK

All about solar

All about solar

Solar panels in the Philippines is gaining traction in the market. This even caught on with an individual from the younger generation. A video posted on the social media platform Facebook features Miggy, a 6-year-old, who talks to his viewers about Grid Tie Solar. This witty boy begins the video by explaining how solar is the most abundant power on earth. He elaborates to say that it is the most important source of energy, because it is clean, safe, and renewable. As animated graphics appear, Miggy goes on to explain that solar energy can be changed to power using photovoltaic (PV) cells. When the sun hits the module, the module converts the sun’s energy into electricity. The infographics and animations shown in the video make it easy and simple for all to understand the very basic principles of solar power and solar panels.

All about grid tie

“Now, we’re going to talk about the grid tie system. Why? Because it’s the best solution,” grins Miggy. “The grid tie connects the solar with the grid. The grid tie uses solar as the first priority power.” In a straightforward, matter-of-fact manner, Miggy stipulates the essence of grid tie: that it blends grid power with solar power.

“What about when it’s raining?” Miggy asks his viewers. “When it’s raining, you get your power from Meralco,” he grins. “When it’s night time, you don’t have solar, so you get power from Meralco.”

And now there’s net metering

Now theres net metering

“Now then, let’s talk about net metering. When you produce more power than you can consume, then you can export the excess power. Don’t you know you can get paid for it? It’s called net metering. The utility company, or Meralco, has a net metering program.”

Grid tie is automatically synchronized, it is most efficient, fastest return on investment, and requires no batteries. With a grid tie system, you can be a producer and consumer of power. If you export so much power, the electric bill can go down so low.

At this point, Miggy repeatedly says “low” and snaps the 20-thousand peso bill amount away, in true style and fashion similar to that of Thanos.

The video ends with Miggy making a call to action: call Solaric and install a grid tie system.

Why the nation is now clamoring for solar

The number one reason that Filipinos are now inclined to using solar panels in the Philippines is because it has become affordable and cost effective. The cost of solar panels has decreased to more than 70% in the past decade. If you are environmentally aware and understand the benefits of clean, safe, sustainable and renewable energy, then now is the best time to consider installing solar panels on the roof of your home and business. The solar panel system will make your home or business energy efficient, reduce your carbon footprint, and increase the property value of your home or business.

Update on PV installations

With the increasing number of sales for solar panels in the Philippines, solar power is now becoming the most popular renewable energy source on a global scale. It is not just about reducing costs and saving money. Protecting the environment has become a top priority for the planet. Based on a study by IHS Markit, global PV installations are expected to reach a total of 34GW completed, in Q4 of this year alone. The market is expected to soar to double-digit growth. In 2019, there will be 11 million new connections to the internet of energy from solar systems existing in 2019. Yes, all regions of the globe are expecting growth in its solar PV installations for the year. In the United States in 2018, there were 2 million solar installations, and this is set to double in the next four years. In the Philippines, however, as of mid-year 2019, the numbers show that there are only a little over 2,100 net metered solar installations.

Why solar?

Why solar?

The number one reason that the general population is now installing solar panels is because it has become affordable and cost-effective. The cost of solar panels has decreased to more than 70% in the past decade. If you are environmentally aware and understand the benefits of clean, safe, sustainable and renewable energy, then now is the best time to consider installing solar panels on the roof of your home and business. If you are thinking about installing rooftop solar, then you may have questions about whether solar panels can be installed on your roof type.

What kind of roof is good for solar?

Let us examine some important factors that determine whether you can install solar panels on your roof.

Age and condition of your roofAge and condition of your roof

It is critical to determine the condition of your current roof. It should be in good condition if you are going to install solar panels. Condition is different from the age of the roof. If your roof is more than five years old, then have a professional determine its current shape and condition, and see if it is ready for a solar panel system installation. If the roof is already near the end of its expected lifespan, then it may be wiser to replace it before installing solar panels. This ensures that the roof can support the solar panels. Solar panels typically have a warranty to 10 to 25 years and a life span of 25 years.

Material of Roofing

The roof type that is most compatible with solar panels is a flat roof or GI sheet roof. The material allows for easier installation. There are some roofing materials that are not ideal for solar panel system installations, such as wood and slate roofs because they are brittle.

Tilt of Roof

Tilt of roof

The tilt of the roof will determine the effect of energy production by your solar panel system. If the roof is too steep, such as over 40 degrees, then energy production and solar harvest is less. If the roof is flat, you can install solar panels and just have to use brackets to angle the panels.

Shape and Size of Roof

It is also important to consider the size and shape of your roof when thinking about installing a solar panel in the Philippines. A typical 5kWp solar panel installation will occupy about 30 square meters of surface area on the roof.

Shading and Sun Exposure

Shading and Sun Exposure

The amount of shading around your roof and the exposure of your roof to the sun can also affect the effectiveness of a solar panel system installation. There are instances when shade cannot be changed or removed, such as when your house is surrounded by buildings which block the sunlight on your roof. If your roof receives little or minimal sunlight, then rooftop solar or a solar panel system installation may not be the best option for you.

5 Reasons to go solaric right now

The option to go renewable

Solar panel systems or solar panels in the Philippines are one of the greatest ways to reduce electric bills and offset energy costs, reduce your carbon footprint and the environmental impact of your home, and contribute to energy independence and a clean, safe, and sustainable future.

To install or not to install?

To install or not to install

If you are at the crossroads and deciding whether to install solar panels or not, here are the main questions to ponder. It is critical that all factors are taken into consideration before making that lifetime investment.

1. Do you want to reduce or eliminate your electric bill?

We live in the Philippines, where the average electricity price for homeowners is the second highest in Asia. It doesn’t stop there. Each year, the power rates surge, steadily going up higher as supply drops, demand boosts, and generation charges inch up. With a Grid Tie Solar Panel System, which is the most affordable and most popular of the solar systems, the solar panel system is connected to the electrical grid. When the sun is out, the house gets its power from the solar panels. When there is no sun (such as when it’s raining or at night time), the system uses electricity from the grid (which is the utility company, or Meralco). Likewise, if more power is generated by the solar system than is used by the house, then the excess energy is fed into the grid. This surplus power that the grid uses is credited by the utility company and is commonly referred to as the Net Metering Program. With a grid tie system on net metering, the home is likely to offset its nighttime power consumption with its daytime export. In doing this, the electric bill is drastically reduced. Sometimes, the bill is even eliminated. This has given birth to the solar trend in the nation today, otherwise known as the #ZeroBill.

2. Do you want to maximize usage of the sun?

Since the Philippines is a tropical country, the average home receives an average of 4.5 hours of sunlight per day. This makes Philippine homes, houses, facilities, structures, warehouses, offices, and buildings one of the best candidates in the world for solar. The sun is a free, unlimited resource, set to shine its light for another 5 billion years. With a solar panel system, the panels continue to draw energy even when the weather is cloudy. Even indirect or diffused sunlight will still power your house. Even cloudy days produce 10% to 20% of the power generated on sunny days. In other words, most especially in the Philippines, the solar panel system is working nearly all day long. It is your choice whether to take advantage of it or not.

3. Are you ready to make an investment with a 5-year ROI?

An investment in a solar panel system typically has a Return on Investment (ROI) of five years or less. That does not take into account the credits you may generate from exporting your excess power to the grid. If you consume all the power that your system generates, you will still achieve ROI in 5 years or less. On top of that, the warranty on your solar panels runs anywhere from 10 to 25 years. This means you generate electricity then have credits from your system for 10 to 25 years. Solar panel systems reduce or eliminate electric bills as soon as the solar is installed, plus they offer long-term savings. This makes the investment a win-win: economically profitable, payback guaranteed, and environmentally responsible.

4. Do you want to increase your home value?

A solar home will have a higher property value and a higher market value. As more and more people all over the world are educated about solar, the demand for solar homes and solar properties continues to increase. Most home or property buyers understand what a home with solar means. With a solar panel system already in place, with initial investment and installation already completed, statistics reveal that most homeowners recognize the resale value increase per installed kilowatt.

5. Do you want to help the environment and help combat climate change?

Solar panel systems use clean energy from the sun. With installed rooftop solar, your home will combat greenhouse gas emissions. This means your dependence on your utility company, which burns fossil fuel to produce electricity, will be less. With a solar home, you will be using a renewable energy source and you will reduce your carbon footprint. You will be directly contributing to a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable planet and future.

If your answers to each of the five questions above is Yes, then solar will most definitely be worth it for you. You will need to be innovative and forward-thinking to understand and embrace the shift to renewables of our modern day world.
