SANA SOLAR NA LANG LAHAT PARA WALA NG ELECTRIC BILL!

How to achieve a Zerobill

We definitely agree! Who does not want to achieve a total zero-bill and be free from the monthly electricity hikes? With Solaric, we can make that a reality!

The Philippines has one of the highest electricity rates in Asia, being heavily dependent on coal and fossil fuels despite sitting in the tropics with an abundant supply of sun’s energy. Although there are efforts and laws done to promote renewable energy, there are still a lot of improvements and work to do if we want to reduce our carbon footprint significantly, aside from lowering the costs of electricity and mitigating the effects of climate change.

Our clients who decided to be ahead of the game have invested in solar energy to produce their own power in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. Solaric’s grid-tie system allows solar to be the first priority power that your household will use during the daytime. Through the Net Metering program, any surplus energy from solar will be exported to the grid in exchange for credits which can be used to offset your nighttime and weekend consumption. No need to worry if the solar power is not enough to supply your entire household during a cloudy or rainy day for this system is interconnected to the grid, allowing a seamless flow of electricity. No manual switching is needed!

How to achieve a Zerobill

A #ZeroBill home means a household with an electric bill of Zero. The Zero Bill phenomenon happens when you have a large solar energy system that supplies a lot of power – more power than your household can consume. By exporting a lot of excess energy to the grid, the earned credits pile up, offsets your night time consumption, and results in that legendary #ZeroBill!

Net metering is needed to achieve a net-zero home and to make this possible, we need to oversize your system 3 to 4 times than the initial recommendation, which may take a lot or your whole roof space, but in return, your electricity expenses are slashed and eliminated!

GOING SOLAR: HOW YOU CAN BECOME ENERGY EFFICIENT

GOING SOLAR: HOW YOU CAN BECOME ENERGY EFFICIENT

What does it really mean to be an energy efficient individual? Watch this video to find out!

Defined as using less energy or resources to perform and produce the same output, energy efficiency and solar are always usually closely affiliated with each other. The traditional and old use of non-renewable energy to produce energy creates pollution and harmful greenhouse gasses which is why investing in Solar and energy efficient devices are considered synergistic in reducing energy consumption, generate savings for the consumers and help the environment.

Introducing our client:

Introducing our client:

Carlos from Quezon City made it a goal to prioritize energy efficiency when he bought and renovated his home way back in 2019. He installed large windows, ceiling fans, skylights – and one of his biggest investments, a 1.7kWp Grid Tie Solar system. He firmly believes that energy efficiency should not only be practiced by companies, corporations, and the government, but it should also be done in an individual level.

Before solar, his bill ranges around Php 2,500, but after the installation, his bill was reduced to Php 900! Fast forward to 2020 and 2021 – when we are now struck by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic: he believes that without solar, his monthly electric bill would immediately shoot up to at least 4k with the work from home setup and the kids homeschooling. But because they are ready and have turned on the sun, the monthly bill only is only Php 1,300!

Go SOLAR now!

Go SOLAR now!

Solaric always tell those who are interested to turn on the sun that it is alright to start small and put up solar that just sits right with your current consumption and budget. Being energy efficient by investing in such technologies and services like solar, you will get to reduce your electric bill expenses and carbon footprint. A typical Solaric system eliminates more than four tons of CO2 per year which is equivalent to planting 50 trees each year. Not only you get to ease the financial burden cause by the yearly increase in electricity rates, you will also be able to help the environment in the long run!

I WANT GUILT-FREE AC!

A hand turning on the air conditioning

IT’S ALMOST SUMMER:

DON’T YOU WANT TO LIVE LIKE A BOSS?

Summer is just around the corner and as the cool breeze fades the warmer temperature comes that makes us switch on that aircon! Admit it or not, a lot of us Filipinos are feeling guilty whenever we use the aircon because of the cost that comes after the comfort and solar might be just the perfect solution for that guilt.

How much solar do I need for my AC?

A man near a fan due to the extreme heat

This is probably one of the most popular questions we encounter with our clients as it is the most in-demand appliance during summer. For a starting budget of Php130,000, we can install a 1.62kWp Grid-Tie System that can easily cover your 1 to 1.5hp aircon along with common Filipino household appliances such as lights, fans, televisions, and refrigerators during the daytime.

The higher the total horsepower of all your air-conditioning units, the larger the solar panel system required to offset your daytime use. For example, a 4hp aircon that runs during the daytime will require a 5.4kWp solar panel system that costs around Php340,000.

Solar is the real deal

A rooftop with solar panels

Solaric CEO and President Mike De Guzman says, “My vision is for every Pinoy to turn on the aircon without hesitation. Anytime – most especially in the midst of the scorching summer heat. The solution is really simple: go solar. That’s what our country needs right now: solutions that work.”

“It’s almost summer. Electricity rates rise. The heat can be unbearable. Who doesn’t want unli-AC? Who doesn’t want guilt-free AC?” asked De Guzman.

Solar panel systems are guaranteed to run for the next 25 years or more. Most panel manufacturers offer a 10-year warranty. In addition, maintenance for solar panel systems is easy and simple, just annual cleaning and routine inspection.

You may also sell excess or surplus energy to the utility through the “Net Metering” program if you want to offset your nighttime usage. Say goodbye to the traditional “tiis-tiis na lang muna” and welcome summer this 2020 in the most comfortable and clean way: with GUILT-FREE AC.

ZERO BILL: THE FERRARI OF SOLAR BUILDS

A table with papers on top of it, an example of a solar panel, and a cardboard house

Ever dreamed of not paying a single peso on your monthly electric bill?

Good news! It is definitely not a dream anymore because at Solaric, we make it possible.

What exactly is a #ZeroBill?

A zero electricity bill

A zero bill is simply what it says: your monthly electric bill is a zero. In other words, in that section where your balance due is indicated, the amount is exactly Php0.00.

Is it actually possible?

Close up of a zero electricity bill

Sometimes, homeowners are interested in going solar and they install a small-sized system or an average-sized system (in relation to their monthly power consumption). Their monthly electric bills decrease from 30% to 75%, and they are thrilled. There are some homeowners, however, that decide to install an extra-large solar panel system. This is what is referred to as the Zero Bill Build. When a homeowner installs a system three times the power production than their home’s power consumption, then the obvious result is that their solar offsets their daytime consumption. All the surplus power produced by their system is exported to the grid. The combination of these factors results in a zero or negative utility bill.

Making the choice

Drone shot of a white rooftop full of solar panels

Some people purchase a car for convenience, or for affordability, or for efficiency. Such individuals will be seen in sedans or SUVs. Other people buy expensive cars, because they can, and because they know exactly what they want – and that’s where the pay-off lies. In the same way, a zero bill build system will be much more expensive. It will take up all your roof space. But imagine not paying a cent on your electric bill in the long run, how fulfilling can that be? That is its pay-off.

Net metering comes to play

Top shot of a rooftop with solar panels

With a grid-tie system, a zero bill is not possible if you don’t apply for a net metering program with Meralco or your utility company. Through this program, you don’t only offset your daytime loads but also the night time loads. The tactic is to sell so much excess energy to the utility company that the credits you earn will offset your evening consumption.

A consumer and a provider

A rooftop with solar panels on one side

Going solar means you get to generate your own power. You use this harvested power for your daily needs and the bonus is you get to provide power for others while getting paid for exporting power. We constantly get yellow and red alerts which means there is an insufficient supply of power on our grid. Our population continues to grow thus the demand for power increases.

“We must continue to explore other sources of energy. Long gone are those days when we need to depend on coal and other non-renewable sources,” said Mike De Guzman, President and CEO of Solaric Corp. “The Philippines is blessed with the free, unlimited and abundant source of the sun’s energy. It’s clean, safe, sustainable and will continue to be accessible for the next 5 billion years – more than enough to pay for the system with a typical ROI of 5 years! Why waste it? It’s time to turn on the sun.”

SOLAR: YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE

Top shot of solar panels on a roof

It is the most practical option out thereTwo rows of solar panels on each side of a roof's tip

Deciding to invest in renewable energy for your property means that you are considering saving money on your monthly electric bills and reducing your carbon footprint for the environment. Alongside it comes the research of finding and weighing the best renewable energy option that is right for you.

The Sunny Philippines

Solaric solar panels on a green rooftop

In a tropical country like the Philippines, we are very lucky to be abundant with the sun’s energy. With proper space, orientation, and sunlight, solar panels can almost be installed everywhere and generate power for you right here in the Philippines. Others prefer it ground-mounted while others on their rooftops.

Solar vs. Wind

Solar panels on top of a rooftop in the Philippines

It is definitely more complicated to install a wind turbine in an urban area compared to solar panels. The wind is also more location-sensitive. On the other hand, most areas nationwide are exposed to the sun, and sunny days are even more common and predictable compared to windy days here in the Philippines.

And it’s for Every Juan

Top shot of solar panels on opposing sides of a brown roof

Solar is definitely more scalable thus giving more opportunity to small scale people who cannot build their own wind or geothermal farm to achieve sustainable energy. It is also much easier for people to install their own solar at their own property, generate their own energy, and get savings.

Solar is Low Maintenance

Two rows of solar panels on top of a roof

Solar panels only require cleaning once or twice a year with soap and running water. They are really low maintenance and only require annual checking to see if your system is running at its full potential. It is also stationary, which means there is a low possibility of damage that can be caused compared to moving parts for operation.

With solar, you can never run out of options, especially now that the costs are lower compared to years ago. On top of that, the market is thriving.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SOLAR: IS IT REALLY EXPENSIVE?

top view of a house with solar panels installed on its roof

Is solar really so expensive? Do you need batteries to go solar? What are the challenges of going solar? Is solar an ideal alternative for places without electricity?

Does solar require batteries?

close-up of solar batteries stacked against a wall

The answer is Yes, and the answer is No.

OFF-GRID: Batteries make sense and are needed in off-grid situations. Batteries in this type of solar setup are needed for storage, meaning excess electricity harvested by your solar system is stored in the batteries for later use.

ON-GRID OR GRID-TIE: In a grid-tie solar system setup, it means that you have stable power from the grid, and therefore it enables you to get the best of both worlds. During the daytime, your facility uses the power of the sun. During night time, your facility uses grid power. If you produce more electricity than you consume, you can export or sell the excess electricity to the utility company through the Net Metering program. In this setup, the utility grid plays the role of a “virtual battery”.

Why doesn’t everyone just use batteries?

The reason why: batteries are expensive. Solar with batteries will at least triple the cost, thus affecting Return on Investment (ROI). In a grid-tie solar setup, ROI is typically achieved in 5 years or less. In a solar setup with batteries, ROI is tagged at 10 years or more – plus there is the fact that the lifespan of solar batteries is only about 10 years, which means you may need to replace them in 10 years.

The solar awareness

Solaric President and CEO Mike De Guzman giving a talk about solar power

“I am constantly called to share my insights on the solar industry in various arenas. The top question is always: is it practical? I always like to ask the same question back. Is it practical to stop subsidizing coal? Is it practical to promote renewable energy? Is it practical to reduce your carbon footprint? Is it practical to maximize the energy resource of the sun?” said Mike De Guzman, President and CEO of Solaric Corp.

Is cost the real issue here?

“The main problem for going solar is not really the cost, but rather the awareness and the implementation. Out of the 120 electric cooperatives and DUs, only 17 have at least one solar installation in their franchise areas. Why so? Pang-pahirap policies, exorbitant fees or downright refusal of some players to abide by consumer protection rules served as factors. Now, however, there are current government agency efforts trying to cut down the red tape dragon,” he emphasized.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

It’s cheap: a solar panel system costs two iPhones or half a car.

Solar Digital Squad
Manila, Philippines
February 28, 2019

Is it affordable now?

It isn’t just about weighing the effects of fossil fuels versus solar panels in the Philippines. Go deeper into considering the significant returns of the solar panel system over the course of 20 to 25 years.

Climate change and stuff

Imagine if most homes, buildings, factories, warehouses, and business establishments installed solar panels. The entire nation would increase its solar power capacity multiple times. Our annual carbon dioxide emissions from energy use would diminish. We would contribute to the environment instead of destroying it with the effects of traditional energy sources. We would incur significant savings in utility costs. We would directly be responsible for a cleaner, safer, and healthier planet.

“We really should start thinking renewable. Every new home and every new facility that is constructed without a solar power system is truly a missed opportunity,” says Jade De Guzman, Vice President of Solaric Corp., recognized as the leader in rooftop solar of the Philippines. “There are really just two things we need to understand about sustainability and generating solar power from our rooftops. Number one: you reduce pollution. Number two: you reduce your electric bill.”

What is the average cost of solar panels?

Solar panels will reduce your overall total costs on power in your lifetime. There are upfront costs to consider.

This shows that the average solar panel system cost in the Philippines is Php128,500 for a 1.62 kWp solar system. The good news is that the cost of panels only continues to fall year after year. As technology advances, rates drop, and solar power becomes cheaper to produce.

In order to get a solar panel system, it’s important to keep in mind that the cost can vary significantly based on various factors: roof type and space, sun exposure, daytime appliances used, monthly electric bill or power consumption, solar panel system size, quality, installation, labor, installation, brand, location or city, etc. Another crucial factor is your objective. Do you simply want to reduce your power bill? Or do you want a Zero Bill?

HOW TO GET A ZERO BILL

HOW TO GET A ZERO BILL

Let’s talk about Client X

It is best to understand the Zero Bill mystery and the use of solar panels priced in the Philippines through a case study. The client lives in an exclusive, gated subdivision in Makati. His electric bill is high because of their appliances and household items: swimming pool, washing machine, dryer, air conditioners, refrigerators, other appliances, and a small home office. His electric bill was an approximate average of Php30,000 each month. In year 2013, when power rates skyrocketed, he implemented some bill saving measures. This included inverter aircons and LED bulbs. This also included installation of a 5kW Solar System, together with Meralco’s Net Metering Program with Peak/Off Peak (POP).

Revisiting the client less than a year later, we examined the electric bills. The average was now only Php5,000 monthly. He even enjoys the luxury of guilt-free aircon.

The conclusion is simple and clear: the investment on solar pays off and the advantage is the fact that you help save the environment.

To go solar or not

To go solar or not

When Filipinos contemplate on buying rooftop solar, people have a wide range of reasons and reflections. Some want to save money. Some want to profit. Some want to keep up with the pace of technology. Some are simply concerned about the environment and the world.

But the number one reason that convinces our society to go solar is the end goal: the zero bill.

Simply put, that represents free electricity. Everyone loves free stuff. Now that there’s the opportunity to consume AND produce power at the same time – it is definitely trending with the owners of homes, factories, warehouses, plants, establishments, buildings, farms, and more. Everyone wants to be paid for providing clean solar power to the grid.

How to get that zero bill

There are various ways to set up solar so that you will never have to pay for power again. Click here for a free site inspection today.

The leading option that has become the nation’s trend is installing a large solar power system.

Why solar is the best investment this 2018

Why solar is the best investment this 2018

A large solar power system makes sense both financially and environmentally. Buying and installing solar is a wise investment because it increases your property value. Whether you install solar at the house, office, building, warehouse, factory, farm – the market and property value increases. Now, with more people becoming even more educated about solar, the demand for solar properties is the highest it has ever been.

How to become a consumer and a provider

The best option to guarantee a zero bill is to install a large solar system, one with enough rooftop solar so that what you receive from the utility company from exporting surplus electricity reduces your bill to zero. In other words, the surplus electricity from your solar system will be exported to the grid. This will offset the cost of grid supply charges.

So it really is pretty straightforward and simple. Put plenty of solar panels on your roof and generate enough power. Then, export this power to the utility company. In doing this, you do not have to pay a single centavo on your electric bills. Better yet, you get paid for the electricity that you will provide. The zero bill is a benefit from being a consumer and provider.
