It all starts somewhere

Back in 2017, the design mantra was to put enough solar to address the usual daytime loads, and probably a little extra to deal with cloudy or rainy weather. It’s almost 2 years since Solaric decided to launch its 2020 best-selling product yet, the AirSAFE. Packed with a lot of helpful features and multiple stages of filtration, you might want to make sure that your AirSAFE is working as intended. After all, your air purifiers are dealing with harmful and dangerous air pollutants every day. You must maintain its excellent condition at its best. But how will you know if your air purifier is already due for cleaning?

Determining the signs

Solaric’s AirSAFE expert has shared some valuable tips to know if your air purifier is due for maintenance. In the case of AirSAFE, your unit will give you signs if your filters are due for cleaning or replacement. For AirSAFE95 (AS95) models, the unit has a built-in filter change reminder for your convenience. Other indications especially for the AirSAFE40 and the ASMAX include a color red indicator on the LED screen. If your PM indicator continues to display the color red for more than an hour after turning on the unit, you may want to clean your filters thoroughly or replace them with brand new ones.

Cleaning your filters

Among the 3 models of AirSAFE that Solaric released on the market, only the AS95 and the ASMAX have the pre-filter. The pre-filter is your first line of defense against larger particles like hair, dust, and dander. Good thing it is washable and you can clean it by simply using a vacuum cleaner or washing it with water to remove unwanted large particles that may be blocking the airflow. This cleaning method also applies with the AS95’s humidifier filter. Don’t forget to dry it thoroughly afterward before putting it back in the unit.

For the rest of the filters, the cellular-activated carbon, cold catalyst, antibacterial cloth, and HEPA filters require vacuuming or complete replacement if deemed not reusable. These filters are not washable hence we advise that you can place it under the sun after using a vacuum cleaner in a well-ventilated area to preserve their quality and lifespan.

Other cleaning and maintenance reminders

Always remember to turn off the unit and unplug it from the electrical socket before opening and doing your maintenance check. For the air inlets and outlets, you may use a clean and dry cloth or a feather duster to remove any dirt that may have accumulated over time, the same with your air purifier’s particulate sensor.

Remember, do not use the AirSAFE without any filters inserted as it will cause damage to the unit. Replacing and buying a new set of filters may vary from 3 to 6 months, depending on how heavily polluted your area is, or how frequently you use the machine. You may also consider replacing them when the filtration becomes not noticeable.

Earlier this month, the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) announced another increase in electricity for June due to the higher power generation costs due to the global increase in fuel and coal prices.
