May 60k Ka: iPhone o Solar?

Introducing Paul Francisco from Gen. Trias, Cavite, a baseball coach for the last ten years. Together with his wife and son, they live in a simple house that runs the average family’s basic household appliances: two flat screen televisions, a stereo, two aircon, electric fans, a refrigerator, an oven, an electric stove, and a washing machine. His typical monthly electric bill is about Php2,400 to Php2,600 each month. In December of 2018, he decided to install solar panels in his Philippine home with one end goal in mind: a lower monthly electric bill.

Sun tidbits

Using the sun to power household appliances is a recent technological development that is now evolving how the world uses power in the present day. Now, having a simple sulit solar system installed on your roof is easy, simple, and hassle-free.

iPhone or Solar?

iPhone or Solar?

“Syempre, inalam ko muna ang magiging silbi nya sa buhay namin. Parang cellphone din yan eh. Kung bibili ka, anong silbi? Kung bibili ako ng mamahalin na cellphone like iPhone, or ano mang mamahalin na brand na cellphone, ako lang makikinabang sa cellphone. Pag binili ko yung solar na yan, mas maraming mapakinabangan. Everyday mapakinabangan mo sya – lifetime. Alam namin na nababawasan ang bill namin sa kuryente monthly!”

After weighing out his options, Paul decided that the benefits of solar outweighed any advantages or gains of any cellphone or gadget. That month of December, he installed solar: 590 watts, 2 solar panels, with a Solis inverter. The all-inclusive total cost was Php60,000.

After installing solar

His typical electric bill in the past was approximately Php2,500. In January, Paul received his electric bill: Php1,600+. That was a drop of 900 pesos in the electric bill.

“Nag try kaming gamitin yung kuryente. Nakita namin hindi gumagalaw yung aming electric meter. Na-amaze kami, natuwa kami! Okay ito! Totoo pala ang sinasabi nila – totoo ang solar!”

Paul received yet another electric bill in February 2019, two months after installing solar. This time, his balance due was Php1,200+. That translated to half his usual electric bill and an equivalent of Php1,300+ in monthly savings. Now, his family could use these savings for groceries and other essentials.

Why Paul chose Solaric

Why Paul chose Solaric

“Maraming mga brands dyan na solar. Di ko naman sila kilala. At least kilala ko yung taong binilhan ko, and nakita ko yung proof sa bahay nang binilhan ko.” Paul was clear in his trust and faith in the brand, because he heard the client testimonials and witnessed the electric bill drops of other satisfied solar customers.

“Ang pinakagusto kong mangyari, magpakabit pa ako ng 2 solar panels, para maging zero na yung bill ko. Yun ang gusto kong target na makukuha ko.” Paul believes in a clean, renewable future, and he believes that he too, shouldn’t have to pay for expensive power. The coveted Zero Bill is his ultimate goal. “Sulit sya at napatunayan ko na. Mamaya, mag-aircon na ko!”

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

WHAT IS THE COST OF SOLAR PANELS THIS 2019?

It’s cheap: a solar panel system costs two iPhones or half a car.

Is it affordable now?

It isn’t just about weighing the effects of fossil fuels versus solar panels in the Philippines. Go deeper into considering the significant returns of the solar panel system over the course of 20 to 25 years.

Climate change and stuff

Imagine if most homes, buildings, factories, warehouses, and business establishments installed solar panels. The entire nation would increase its solar power capacity multiple times. Our annual carbon dioxide emissions from energy use would diminish. We would contribute to the environment instead of destroying it with the effects of traditional energy sources. We would incur significant savings in utility costs. We would directly be responsible for a cleaner, safer, and healthier planet.

“We really should start thinking renewable. Every new home and every new facility that is constructed without a solar power system is truly a missed opportunity,” says Jade De Guzman, Vice President of Solaric Corp., recognized as the leader in rooftop solar of the Philippines. “There are really just two things we need to understand about sustainability and generating solar power from our rooftops. Number one: you reduce pollution. Number two: you reduce your electric bill.”

What is the average cost of solar panels?

Solar panels will reduce your overall total costs on power in your lifetime. There are upfront costs to consider.

This shows that the average solar panel system cost in the Philippines is Php128,500 for a 1.62 kWp solar system. The good news is that the cost of panels only continues to fall year after year. As technology advances, rates drop, and solar power becomes cheaper to produce.

In order to get a solar panel system, it’s important to keep in mind that the cost can vary significantly based on various factors: roof type and space, sun exposure, daytime appliances used, monthly electric bill or power consumption, solar panel system size, quality, installation, labor, installation, brand, location or city, etc. Another crucial factor is your objective. Do you simply want to reduce your power bill? Or do you want a Zero Bill?
