ZERO BILL: THE FERRARI OF SOLAR BUILDS

Ever dreamed of not paying a single peso on your monthly electric bill?

Good news! It is definitely not a dream anymore because at Solaric, we make it possible.

What exactly is a #ZeroBill?

A zero electricity bill

A zero bill is simply what it says: your monthly electric bill is a zero. In other words, in that section where your balance due is indicated, the amount is exactly Php0.00.

Is it actually possible?

Close up of a zero electricity bill

Sometimes, homeowners are interested in going solar and they install a small-sized system or an average-sized system (in relation to their monthly power consumption). Their monthly electric bills decrease from 30% to 75%, and they are thrilled. There are some homeowners, however, that decide to install an extra-large solar panel system. This is what is referred to as the Zero Bill Build. When a homeowner installs a system three times the power production than their home’s power consumption, then the obvious result is that their solar offsets their daytime consumption. All the surplus power produced by their system is exported to the grid. The combination of these factors results in a zero or negative utility bill.

Making the choice

Some people purchase a car for convenience, or for affordability, or for efficiency. Such individuals will be seen in sedans or SUVs. Other people buy expensive cars, because they can, and because they know exactly what they want – and that’s where the pay-off lies. In the same way, a zero bill build system will be much more expensive. It will take up all your roof space. But imagine not paying a cent on your electric bill in the long run, how fulfilling can that be? That is its pay-off.

Net metering comes to play

With a grid-tie system, a zero bill is not possible if you don’t apply for a net metering program with Meralco or your utility company. Through this program, you don’t only offset your daytime loads but also the night time loads. The tactic is to sell so much excess energy to the utility company that the credits you earn will offset your evening consumption.

A consumer and a provider

Going solar means you get to generate your own power. You use this harvested power for your daily needs and the bonus is you get to provide power for others while getting paid for exporting power. We constantly get yellow and red alerts which means there is an insufficient supply of power on our grid. Our population continues to grow thus the demand for power increases.

“We must continue to explore other sources of energy. Long gone are those days when we need to depend on coal and other non-renewable sources,” said Mike De Guzman, President and CEO of Solaric Corp. “The Philippines is blessed with the free, unlimited and abundant source of the sun’s energy. It’s clean, safe, sustainable and will continue to be accessible for the next 5 billion years – more than enough to pay for the system with a typical ROI of 5 years! Why waste it? It’s time to turn on the sun.”

SOLAR: YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE

It is the most practical option out thereTwo rows of solar panels on each side of a roof's tip

Deciding to invest in renewable energy for your property means that you are considering saving money on your monthly electric bills and reducing your carbon footprint for the environment. Alongside it comes the research of finding and weighing the best renewable energy option that is right for you.

The Sunny Philippines

In a tropical country like the Philippines, we are very lucky to be abundant with the sun’s energy. With proper space, orientation, and sunlight, solar panels can almost be installed everywhere and generate power for you right here in the Philippines. Others prefer it ground-mounted while others on their rooftops.

Solar vs. Wind

It is definitely more complicated to install a wind turbine in an urban area compared to solar panels. The wind is also more location-sensitive. On the other hand, most areas nationwide are exposed to the sun, and sunny days are even more common and predictable compared to windy days here in the Philippines.

And it’s for Every Juan

Solar is definitely more scalable thus giving more opportunity to small scale people who cannot build their own wind or geothermal farm to achieve sustainable energy. It is also much easier for people to install their own solar at their own property, generate their own energy, and get savings.

Solar is Low Maintenance

Solar panels only require cleaning once or twice a year with soap and running water. They are really low maintenance and only require annual checking to see if your system is running at its full potential. It is also stationary, which means there is a low possibility of damage that can be caused compared to moving parts for operation.

With solar, you can never run out of options, especially now that the costs are lower compared to years ago. On top of that, the market is thriving.
