Step 2: SITE SURVEY

To be able to finalize the residential or commercial solar project, a site survey is conducted to ensure a quality solar build. You may immediately request for a site survey from your Solaric agent and we will send a Solaric engineer at a day and time of your convenience. The site survey is free for sites within Metro Manila! From there, the engineer will have a thorough assessment of the facility: determine possible tapping points, roof condition angle, or slope, cable run, electrical system, and then a detailed survey report will be prepared to determine if the site is indeed feasible for a solar power system. A site survey report, quotation and PV layout with options that include various solar equipment brands will be sent to you 2 to 3 days after the site inspection.

Step 3: CONTRACT SIGNING & INITIAL PAYMENT

HOW DOES HEAT AFFECT YOUR SOLAR PANELS?

With the recent temperatures reaching up to 45 degrees in some parts of the country, some people may wonder, how does heat affect their solar panels?

First, we have to understand how solar panels function. Although sunlight and heat are always correlated to each other, these two factors affect the performance of your solar energy system differently. While heat does not reduce the amount of energy harvested by your panels, it does have an impact on how energy is produced inside the cells. This is because solar panels generate energy through the sun’s light and not heat. In fact, the higher the temperatures, the lesser the efficiency of your solar panels which causes energy losses and a drop in your system performance.

Temperature Coefficient

A solar panel’s performance relative to a given temperature or temperature coefficient varies from brand to brand and is important in calculating an accurate production level of your solar energy system, which is why it is important to choose the best solar panels for your roof that will be efficient given the tropical climate of the Philippines. Most of the solar panels that Solaric offers has a coefficient between -0.35 to -0.5. The temperature coefficient will tell you how much power a solar panel loses for every 1° increase in temperatures above 25°C.

For example, a solar panel has a temperature coefficient of -0.35% per 1°C. So with every one-degree increase above 25°C, the solar panel’s efficiency will decrease by 0.35%.

Reducing the heat’s effects

The effects of heat on your solar energy system is inevitable especially during the summer when the heat is on its peak which is why it is important to look for an experienced and knowledgeable solar provider that will correctly install solar panels in your roof. The right installer will install panels at the right angle to make sure you will still be able to harvest the maximum sunlight as possible while allowing a convective air flow to cool the panels.
