SOLARIC DONATES THE ‘GIFT OF POWER’ FOR VICTIMS OF TYPHOON ODETTE

Throwback circa 2013

More than eight years ago, Solaric dove head first to bring solar to the most devastated Filipinos in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda. NGOs and random strangers were then asking if there were a way to bring power to areas that simply could not be powered, because there were NO power lines, NO fuel for genset, and the deadliest shortage – NO hope.

The very first paying customer of Solaric said he wanted his panels to be prioritized instead to energize affected people and communities of Typhoon Yolanda. You see, a single residential solar panel has the power output to charge a hundred phones, or a lot of battery lanterns. When charging phones cost P20 a pop and you have been brutalized by a typhoon that smashed your house and flooded your bank/ATM, then that is definitely a problem.

The story unfolds

An international NGO asked us to do what seemed impossible: send a truckload of solar gear to the most inhospitable place on earth at the time, and install them for those who need it the most. When ships are stuck on the road and when air freight is only by military C-130, then the only option left is to be resourceful. That is when we truly witnessed the bayanihan spirit in action. A collective trust that people will do the right thing when crisis strikes.

We sent in solar generators via a convoy from the Land Rover Club, an OR in Palawan got our streetlamp prototype via a dashing yachtsman who sailed there with a boatload of donated goods and the workhorse Solaric Installation van which became our home away from home. These vans were converted into mini power stations that in the end made a final mission to divest all of its gear to power a public school before heading back to Manila.

On to 2021

On to 2021

Fast forward eight years later, our small fledging company has become a trusted name in solar installations found on thousands of rooftops in the Philippines. We also developed a self-contained #PowerBox with a maximum airline legal 99Whr of storage, capable of charging many cellphones and laptops, and can provide lighting. Yes, of course its solar powered, so it can do this day in day out until the crisis is resolved.

The Gift of Power

Solaric knows that communications is vital to survive a crisis. Thanks to qualified NGOs and private individuals and companies who reached out to us, we were able to successfully send out units of Solaric PowerBOX to the frontlines and leave it there for those who need it the most. We would also like to send our gratitude to all our personnel behind the scenes who did not hesitate to help out – even in the midst of Christmas Eve and throughout the holidays, to fully charge hundreds of units, making them ready-to-use for the beneficiaries.

Currently sold out but we will be back stronger!

The PowerBOX is SOLD OUT. But worry not as Solaric is planning and cooking something better this year, because let’s admit it, with an average of 20 typhoons a year, we always have to be disaster-prepared 24/7.
