4S: SOLAR, SUSTAINABILITY, SAVINGS, SAVING THE PLANET

4S: SOLAR, SUSTAINABILITY, SAVINGS, SAVING THE PLANET

You can never go wrong with solar

You can never go wrong with solar

Solar is a great investment, and a wise environmental upgrade for individuals who are determined to look for other means to reduce their energy costs, reduce their carbon footprint, and increase their property value. Whether your reasons for going solar are personal, financial, or environmental, solar power is sure to offer you something that will make the investment completely worth it.

Keeping it short and simple

Keeping it short and simple

Solar energy works by capturing the sun’s energy and converting it into electricity that can be used in homes and businesses. This begins when the sunlight hits the solar panels. The panels then convert this energy to a current which flows to an inverter that converts the DC to AC – the energy that you can use to power your home. It is that simple and straightforward. This energy development is now the number one trend in tropical countries, making it efficient, easily available, and affordable to end consumers.

Sustainability

Sustainability

With the constantly increasing demand for energy, the need for clean, safe, and sustainable energy that meets the needs of the present population without compromising the future generation is becoming the ultimate concern of this generation. This is where solar energy comes in, because it is a free, unlimited, safe, clean, and sustainable source of energy, and will be available readily for the next 5 billion years. Unlike other energy sources, solar energy is unbounded compared to fossil fuels which are limited and running low. It is definitely a no-brainer that the sun is one of the most feasible and important sources of renewable energy – guaranteed to generate long-term assurance of energy. As long as the sun continues to exist, we will be able to produce and enjoy green energy.

Achieving ROI

Achieving ROI

Investing in producing your own power means that you will be less dependent on the utility company, and therefore less dependent on the grid. You will be able to accumulate savings on your energy bill every day as long as the sun shines. Additionally, when your system generates more power than what you consume, the excess or surplus power is exported or sold to the utility company. This can offset your night time and weekend energy usage which is how you’ll be able to achieve your ROI and make your system more beneficial.

Saving the planet

Saving the planet

Solar requires very little maintenance, eliminates the carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere, reduces your carbon footprint, and reduces your dependency on non-renewable energy sources, thus providing fully clean energy for years to come. When you go solar, you become a renewable energy advocate, you reduce your carbon footprint, and you help save and protect the planet.

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL YOU SAVE WITH A 5KWP SOLAR SYSTEM?

How to Know When It’s Time to Go Solar This 2019

Fact tidbits about PH solar

The power capacity of solar systems in the Philippines used to be just 1 Megawatt (MW) on a yearly basis, from year 2005 to 2013. In 2014, solar power generation hit 17MW. In 2015, 139MW. In 2016, solar power hit 1,097MW. Then in 2017, 1,201MW. The power generated from solar tech is expected to triple in the coming years. The Philippines already hit more than 1 Gigawatt of total installed solar capacity in 2016, and the trend indicates this will continue to rise. A Rotterdam-based consultancy firm released a report in 2018 that the Philippines was expected to hit 3 Gigawatts by year 2022.

How much is solar this 2019?

As of summer 2019, the average cost of installing solar panels in the Philippines is approximately Php60 to Php80 per watt for residential clients. For commercial and industrial clients, the average cost of solar panel systems is Php50 to Php60 per watt. With electricity prices and the cost of living soaring, there’s never been a better time to go solar. Far from being a ‘one size fits all’ solution to your energy needs, there’s a solar PV system perfect for every home, business, and budget.

What is the ideal residential rooftop solar system?

The most recommended solar setup for homes is the Grid Tie System. This setup is perfect for homes in an area where stable power exists and is known to be the most efficient and fastest-ROI system. The grid tie provides solar power as the first priority power to be used during the daytime when the sun is shining the brightest. Solar power blends with grid power (electric company power). The grid tie system does not come with batteries and as such, is more cost effective. The excess or surplus power can be exported to the grid (or sold to the electric company via a program called “Net Metering”). This arrangement offsets night time power usage.

What exactly is a 5kWp solar system?

A 5kWp solar system is perfect for the average Filipino family. It is more popular than the 1.5kWp and 3kWp systems. The 5kWp system is commonly installed and fantastic for an average sized household with an average electricity bill of Php15,000. The 5kWp setup usually comes with 20 solar panels and one grid tie inverter. You would need to have the roof surveyed, to identify roof space and determine sun exposure, so that the solar panel system can be designed appropriately by engineers. Each panel is usually around 1.6m by 1m in size. The average monthly harvest (or, the power generated by the 5kWp solar system), is approximately 675kWh. Typically, a 5kWp solar system is suitable for families with daytime appliance usage of refrigerators, washing machine, TV, a few fans, gadgets, and a couple of aircons.

How much does a 5kWp solar system cost?

When it comes to solar PV systems, quality is closely tied to price. Good quality 5kWp solar systems range in price from Php300,000 to Php500,000, depending on the equipment brands and solutions that you select. It is also wise to ensure that your solar systems are protected. The system should come with warranty and client support, since it is in essence, an investment.

How much can I save?

A 5kWp solar system can save you about Php8,000 every month on your electricity, which equates to about Php100,000 every year in savings. These savings can now be used for more vital, critical, essential things such as education, insurance, or other investments. As with most products and systems, the quality of your solar system is directly related to how much money you will save. Higher, better, and more reputable solar systems are more efficient and therefore yield better results, providing higher returns on investment. All in all, installing a 5kWp solar system in your home translates to about Php5 Million in lifetime savings for one home.

Maintenance is easy, simple, hassle-free

Residential solar is basically low-maintenance. There is little effort required once the panels are installed. They’re easy, simple, and hassle-free. Solar installers usually provide a lifetime warranty and furnish homeowners with instructions on how to ensure that panels are working optimally. In addition, there are some solar companies that offer regular cleaning and maintenance on their panels at no cost to their clients, such as Solaric.
