THE RISE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

THE RISE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

When we felt the effects of the pandemic and the lockdowns that were imposed, our usual activities were placed on “hold”. The demand for oil declined since transportation and vehicle usage declined. People stacked their homes with food and looked for other ways to alleviate their boredom and sustainable ways to live. The interest in growing your own food right in your own backyard increased – and so did the demand to produce your own energy. We did not look for non-renewables, instead we turned to sustainable and renewables.

The downside of non-renewable energy

The fast development in industrialization has made non-renewable resources deplete on a faster speed especially with the increasing global population. Keep in mind that non-renewable energy comes from finite sources that will eventually run out or will not be replenished even in millions of years like fossil fuels, coal, and natural gas. The cost to obtain these will continue to rise as they become scarcer until it reaches a point on which consumers can barely afford it. There is always the threat of uncertainty with the costs and availability of these resources not to mention the harmful effects they contribute to climate change.

Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

The rise of plantitos and plantitas, along with increased interest in home gardening and sustainable energy due to the pandemic are big indicators that the general population is becoming more aware of the benefits of renewables. The pandemic has made people prioritize and think critically, putting more thoughts and actions on wise and long-term investments more than ever.

Renewable energy like solar power is 100% sustainable and can be used repeatedly. It comes from sources that won’t run out unlike fossil fuels and natural gas. Harnessing the sun’s power will help us during these unsure times on which we should be more aggressive in shifting towards a clean and sustainable future. Even during the strictest lockdown, Solaric’s bread and butter is reducing electric bills and providing Filipinos with energy alternative. Our engineering and energization teams are continuing to work hard to service the needs of our clients and continue to rely on solar energy, and turn to renewables and sustainables for every Filipino.

ARE YOU SUMMER-READY THIS 2021?

ARE YOU SUMMER-READY THIS 2021?

Summer is just around the corner and the temperature keeps on getting warmer day by day, until it’s almost impossible to deal with the summer heat without aircon. The power demand and increase in electric bills are bound to happen – but there are still a few ways to alleviate this future distress and enjoy a “guilt-free AC” summer. That decision is up to you, when you are ready to harness the power of solar.

Solar is the new normal in 2021

Being a tropical country, the Philippines is blessed to have the sun’s abundant energy all year round but at the same time, we face tremendous heat especially during the summer months. Others might see it as a hassle but for renewable energy advocates and Solaric, this is just the perfect reason why Solar is a good alternative choice for energy.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought us the new normal and most of us up to now are still staying indoors, working and studying at home, which can inevitably cause your electric bills to go higher than what you’re accustomed to. Hence, last year’s “bill shock”. Most of us are not ready for that but for Solaristas who invested earlier on in the game and came prepared, they experienced the benefits of their wisest long-term investment. Their residential rooftops have become their own power plants and they can chill while enjoying their ACs on full blast.

Lowering your bills through Solar

We all know that everyone wants to enjoy guilt-free AC but we are always hesitant with the price tag. After all, the aircon uses a lot of electricity and eventually, we’ve got to pay for that electric bill. With solar, you get to worry less as you become your own power producer and generate your own electricity to lower your electric bills. A grid tie solar system is connected both on your utility grid and solar panels. It uses solar energy as the first priority power to be used to cover your daytime consumption, enabling you to cut down the cost of your utility bills.

A typical grid tie solar system can last for more than 25 years and a single solar panel can slash your electric bill to 400 pesos or more! Through the “Net Metering” program, the excess power that your system generates can be converted into credits which can be used to offset your night time and weekend energy usage.

What happens when you fill your entire roof up with solar panels? The result is goodbye electric bill and hello guilt- free AC! Now you’re ready to harness the power of solar!

I AM HAPPY TO TURN ON THE SUN!

I AM HAPPY TO TURN ON THE SUN!

Who would have thought that two days after installing solar, you would be facing a pandemic lockdown, leaving you with no choice but to stay at home 24/7? This is exactly what happened to Tony, a Solaric client from Pasig City – and he definitely does not regret his choice of going solar months ago.

Watch the full video here!

Life Before Solar

Tony’s average electric bill prior to solar installation ranged between Php 14,000 to Php 16,000.

“Sometimes it even reaches 20k, when we use appliances more than the usual, and especially during the summer months when the scorching heat we experience makes us turn on the air-conditioning units to alleviate the heat,” explains Tony

He Decided To Do It In One Go

“Ive been following Solaric on social media for several years. So when we decided to renovate the house, we decided to invest in solar,” adds Tony.

Solaric’s initial recommendation was a 6kWp grid tie system composed of 20 LG solar panels. However, Tony wanted to maximize his roof space so he could maximize solar technology. Thus, he decided to go all out and do it in one go. He filled his entire roof with solar panels.

Just two days after the solar installation, the ECQ happened and with everyone staying at home 24/7 working and studying, his electric consumption definitely doubled. But even will the 3hp aircons running during the day, televisions, and appliances running longer and harder than ever before, his electric bill still significantly decreased

Life After Solar

Life After Solar

Now, he has a 10.56kWp Grid Tie solar power system consisting of 32 LG 330W solar panels. This ultimately slashed his bill to Php 6,000 to Php 7,000! “That’s 50% reduction, and it’s significant,” emphasizes Tony.

When asked why he chose LG Solar, he said, “I chose LG Solar panels because of their amazing offer of 25-year warranty, plus the brand’s reputation of reliability and efficiency.” Truly, if this Solaric client from Pasig can do it, then you can do it too!

Your Call

It is definitely not too late to be energy prepared and protect yourself from another bill-shock that may happen this year. Apart from savings that you get from solar energy, you get to share the excess power to your neighbors – because the truth is, even our energy-starved grid operators need a boost when the electricity lines are overwhelmed.

NOW IS THE TIME TO GO SOLAR!

NOW IS THE TIME TO GO SOLAR!

A long-term investment like solar is no joke and does not come cheap in many aspects. You want it to be the best as possible, worth the money, safe, and highly efficient for your needs. Going solar can be like buying a car; you need to make sure you look for a good and reputable solar provider in the Philippines.

Research

It is always best to do read, review, and research, to learn and understand what you are getting. A good and well-built solar system can last for more than 25 years which is why it is important to look for a solar company with experience and expertise in the field. You may consider the years they have been on the solar business, the scope and variety of projects they have installed, the reviews, recommendations, testimonies available online from previous clients, or simply from how they treat their potential clients

Quality Comes First

Quality Comes First

Do not be fooled by the cheap prices flooding the market. Cheaper equipment and materials may look food upfront but may cause problems later on. Substandard solar panels and equipment may underperform and compromise your system and even your house or facility, not to mention that it may cause fires! Find a reputable solar company that can provide you quality products and service, one that carries Tier1 brands for solar at reasonable prices. Weigh your options and do not be afraid to ask for other choices that cater to your particular lifestyle and needs.

Good Aftersales

Good Aftersales

Nothing is more drastic than being a victim of fly-by-night installers and bogus providers. A good solar company will walk you through the entire solar process from inquiry, contract signing, installation, and aftersales. Make sure that your solar provider will design your system based on your needs. Your solar provider in the Philippines should be easy to contact and get answers from and guarantee a troubleshoot fix in case you will encounter any problems on your solar system in the future.

SOLAR: THE PRACTICAL CHOICE

https://solaric.com.ph/blog/solar-provider-philippines/

As the Philippines continues to switch to alternative sources of energy, we have different renewable energy options to rely on. We have the wind turbines of Illocos, hyrdrothermal plant in Benguet, and geothermal plant in Bicol, amongst others. What makes solar different yet the most practical for us Filipinos?

Philippines Is Sitting On A Gold Mine

Blessed with the sun’s energy as a tropical country, the Philippines is a good and strategic place to invest in solar. With proper space and sunlight, solar panels can almost be installed everywhere, from rooftops to vacant lots, and guaranteed to produce energy for you.

Every year, we always experience power outages especially during the summer months where the demand is too high and the energy supply falls in yellow and red alerts. Harnessing this abundance source of energy will not only generate electric savings for a solar homeowner, but the excess energy will help in the power supply shortage that is caused by the shutdown of power plants and reduce the overall electricity cost for the public on a broader sense.

Space And Time Saving

Space And Time Saving

Compared to other sources of renewable energy, it’s far more complicated to install a wind turbine, dam, and geothermal plant in an urban populated area. Sunny days are even more common and predictable compared to windy and rainy days here in our country. Solar is definitely more scalable and affordable to install, which makes greater opportunity for a common Filipino who cannot build their own wind, hydro, or geothermal plants to achieve and benefit from sustainable energy especially with the declining costs and recent improvement in solar technology throughout these years.

Building more coal plants will require a lot of permits and years to build and yet installing solar on a residential area will only take 2 to 3 days. The excess solar energy that is not consumed during daytime will automatically export and blend with the grid, benefitting everyone almost immediately. Traditional answers make lesser sense wherein in today’s technology, we can invest for more clean, efficient and ubiquitous source of energy, helping us better understand what makes solar different.

REASONS TO LOVE SOLAR THIS LOVE MONTH!

REASONS TO LOVE SOLAR THIS LOVE MONTH!

Are you still looking for reasons to go solar this 2021? Here are some reasons why you have to love this renewable energy!

Save Money

The foremost reason why a lot of people are going solar is to save money from paying their monthly electric bills. This is made possible when you install a solar grid tie system (which is interconnected to the grid), and then use solar as the “first priority” power during daytime. If you do not consume all the power harvested by your solar system, then the excess or surplus power is then exported and sold to the utility company via the “Net Metering” program. With this setup, you offset your night time and weekend power consumption with the credits from the exported power. Installing just the ideal system capacity, enabling Net Metering, and using your system wisely will enable significant savings – plus you achieve faster ROI.

Solar Is Unlimited

Who doesn’t like unlimited stuff like unlimited drinks, buffet, data allocation, calls and texts? Unlike non-renewable energy that comes from fossil fuels which are finite, solar energy comes from the incredible power of the Sun. We do not have to worry anytime soon for this source of power to run out since it will last us a few million years more, and can sustain hundreds to thousands of generations when utilized properly.

The Philippines is Solar-Rich

Save Money

The planet Earth is in the perfect location in the solar system to utilize the Sun for power – not too close wherein the mankind may roast, and yet not too far to be cold and hypothermic. We are even more blessed that the Philippines is a tropical country and in a good position to receive huge amounts of sun’s energy all year around which makes us a perfect solar goldmine to harvest, utilize and use this clean, renewable energy.

Low Maintenance

Solar does not demand a lot of time and attention. In fact, it only requires cleaning with mild soap and running water, once or twice a year, or depending on how heavily polluted your area is. It also runs on advanced technology, which means you can remotely monitor its harvest and check whether your system is running on its full potential through an app or website (wherever you are, as long as you have internet access)!

Clean And Environment-Friendly

Clean And Environment-Friendly

There has been an increase in household and businesses that are switching to alternative and renewable sources of energy in the Philippines, because of the need to be more energy-independent. Another factor is the increased awareness about climate change. Not only do you get to produce monthly savings, you also reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable future for generations to come, which are excellent reasons to go solar.

POLY IS OUT, MONO IS IN!

POLY IS OUT, MONO IS IN!

Early in the solar game, you may have encountered two primary options for a solar panel: the monocrystalline solar panels (otherwise known as mono) and the polycrystalline solar panels (also known as poly). Polycrystalline solar panels are less efficient compared to monocrystalline but offers a lower price. Hence, it was a popular option for those clients with a tight budget. However, times are changing and with the improvements in technology and declining costs of solar, Solaric has phased out Poly panels for good and now offers Monocrystalline solar panels in the Philippines for all its solar system installations.

What Is A Monocrystalline Panel?

Solar panels are made from a conductive material called silicon. The solar cells of a monocrystalline panels are cut from a single silicon source, compared to polycrystalline panels which came from multiple silicon sources, hence the name ‘mono’. Since it uses a single-crystal silicon, the cells are purer and provides more space for the electrons to move. As a result, they have better flow of electricity, making them more efficient than poly panels. They also have less energy loss and can perform better even in higher temperatures which is ideal for our sun-rich and tropical country: the Philippines.

Why Poly Came First

The first reason is the budget and cost. Considered as a premium solar panel, monocrystalline panels boasts higher efficiencies and aesthetics and perfect for clients with limited roof space but this comes with a price. In the past, monocrystalline panels were more expensive compared to polycrystalline, due to the tedious and intricate process in manufacturing them.

Improved Technology and Declining Costs

Improved Technology and Declining Costs

The years have been good for solar technology as it was able to bring down the costs of producing monocrystalline panels. Currently, monocrystalline panels are now able to match the lower prices of polycrystalline panels, which is why a lot of solar providers, including Solaric, chose to completely phase out the use of poly panels and completely switch to mono. Before, you can get a 1.6kWp grid tie system using polycrystalline panels for Php129,000 – but now, you can get the same system size using monocrystalline panels in the Philippines for as low as Php115,000! Solar is indeed becoming more affordable! With higher efficiency rates, better temperature coefficient, and the gorgeous darker hues, solar has became an instant hit for homeowners and business professionals.

SOLAR: THE PRACTICAL CHOICE THIS 2021

SOLAR: THE PRACTICAL CHOICE THIS 2021

The Philippines, being a tropical country, is blessed to have the sun’s energy all year round. This abundance makes solar the practical choice for our country and it brings us a lot of benefits and advantages!

Taking Advantage

With the ongoing pandemic and increasing awareness and concerns about climate change and the future, we cannot neglect the potential of solar energy here in the Philippines. As our country sits in the equatorial region where there is a higher amount of sun’s energy – or more sunshine, we can reap numerous benefits from harvesting the sun’s power, to reduce our electricity expenses.

The Renewable Energy Act of 2008 or RA 9513 aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy resources such as solar to achieve energy self-reliance and reduce the country’s dependence to fossil fuels. It also aims to promote the efficient and cost-effective commercial application of renewable energy.

Turn the Sun into Savings!

Philippines has one of the most expensive electricity rates in Asia, which is why Filipinos are already accustomed to making “tipid” to avoid the terror of paying obscenely high monthly electric bills. The country also continues to experience yellow to red alert due to unstable grid supply during the summer months when the energy demand is high.

With a solar grid tie system, you get to use solar as the “first priority” power to be used during daytime. In this way, you rely on the sun to power your appliances first, therefore cutting the cost of energy you get from the utility. In addition to that, the surplus power you produce can be exported and sold to the utility via the “Net Metering” program which can offset your night time and weekend energy use. This is why the grid tie system can give you the fastest ROI and is considered to be the most efficient solar system especially for the households in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Improved Technology and Cheaper Prices

The cost of putting up solar panels continues to decline as we find and develop better ways to manufacture solar panels and equipment. For as low as Php 105,000, you get to install a Solaric system that can accommodate a small air-conditioning unit. It is expected in the coming years that there would be more efficiency and design improvements in solar for better integration in homes, commercial establishments while reducing the total cost all in all.

THANK YOU FOR THE #SUN AND POWER OF #SOLAR!

THANK YOU FOR THE #SUN AND POWER OF #SOLAR!

As we bid adieu to that wretched year of 2020, there was one thing our clients were really thankful for: having Solaric on their roof. Regardless of ECQ, MECQ, or GCQ, the sun provided dependable bill-crushing energy day in and day out. Summing up 2020, we started off with Taal volcano raining ashfall pandemonium, only to be cranked up by a factor of 100x with a once-in-a-century Pandemic, its ensuing economic devastation, and even mental health issues caused by the stresses of uncertainties.

For months, we have been cowering in our homes, dreading an unseen and indiscriminate virus, but at least it taught us to revel in gratitude and happiness of living simpler lives – which includes Plantitos and Plantitas, or the best creator of sushi bake.

Throughout the darkest days, we chose to keep our doors open. We housed our roof installers in our secure barracks and made sure everybody had sacks of rice, gallons of alcohol (the sanitizer type), and support to survive the pandemic storm. We believe the darkest days have passed, and we are now seeing the glimmering sunlight of the new year.

A Fresh Start For Solar Energy

A Fresh Start For Solar Energy

This 2021, we are counting on vaccination becoming an attainable reality, and universally reachable in all corners of our country like the Sun.

Maybe things will be different. Maybe we have to jog with face masks. Public transport may be forever altered. Maybe WFH or homeschool may become the norm. Maybe Zoom permanently replaced the usual in-person meetings.

From an Energy Provider perspective, there may be less power delivered to offices, malls, and schools – but the power has been diverted to homes instead. Your home is your fortress in these unsure times. Our clients who got solar now want more – to deal with the much greater demands, and upon the realization that their investment in Solar power was one of the smartest big ticket items they ever spent on. Our average installation size has grown to accommodate the growing demands of homes that have been transformed to home offices, virtual schools, and bakeshops (for all the Martha Stewarts).

How Solar Can Help You

How Solar Can Help You

What we do with great certainty is reduce your electric bills and in some cases, take it away completely by going carbon negative. Negative is good these days when it comes to certain tests, and we at times can make it happen even to electric bills. Simply produce more electricity than you consume and send back the excess electricity via Net Metering to the power grid, like a personally owned private power plant.

A single solar panel installed by Solaric has the power bill numbing capability of P500 a month. Imagine what 20 or 40 solar panels on your roof can do. Our prices are amazing only to be out-classed by our after sales service. With Solar, you Save Money AND you Save the Environment.
