CORONAVIRUS WATCH: SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

With the first confirmed community transmission and the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, Solaric imposed several health and safety measures to protect its workers and employees in the midst of the increasing threat of this pandemic.

What is the Coronavirus?

Coronavirus disease 2019 also referred to as COVID-19 is an infectious disease that started in Wuhan, China and has continued to spread globally and is recently recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global pandemic. The infection can be spread from one person to another through respiratory droplets. There is no vaccine or confirmed treatment for COVID-19 to this day, which is why preventive measures such as social distancing and frequent handwashing are highly recommended.

In the Philippines, the first local transmission was recorded on March 5, 2020. The country is currently under Code Red Sub-Level 2, with authorities having issued a community quarantine on Metro Manila effective March 7. A few days later, the entire Luzon was placed under “Enhanced Community Quarantine”.

Solaric Safety Measures

Solaric highly values the importance of health and safety, especially for its workforce. Prior to the announcement of Code Red Sub-Level 2, the company conducted a series of COVID-19 alongside its health and safety meetings to promote good work hygiene and protection. Various guidelines, fact-checks about COVID-19, and proper handwashing reminders were placed all around the Solaric headquarters and warehouses.

Besides personal protective equipment, otherwise commonly referred to as PPE, Solaric installers were also given face masks and goggles to protect themselves amidst the threat of Covid-19. The management also distributed alcohol and facemasks to the entire workforce. Everyone was heavily instructed to practice thorough hand washing and disinfecting. Shuttles were also deployed to avoid usage of public transportation and to minimize exposure to risk. Work from home was implemented company-wide.

“Solaric’s most important assets are its people,” said Mike De Guzman, President and CEO of Solaric Corp. “We take health and safety very seriously. Now is the time to behave as a good citizen and have constructive thoughts. We are trying to maximize our efforts in educating and promoting the best health practices, not just inside our homes, but also at the workplace. We can all achieve peace of mind by preparing for the worst,” he emphasized.
