ZeroBill and Net Metering
You cannot achieve a zero-bill build or ZBB using a grid tie system without net metering. A grid-tie system means your solar is interconnected to the grid to allow energy trading to happen. By applying for the net metering program, your utility will compensate any surplus energy or exported energy to credits, and these credits will offset your nighttime consumption. By selling so much power, your credits pile up which results in a literal ZERO in your total monthly electric bills.
Even though achieving a zero bill can be a bigger investment, your system will eventually pay for itself in 3 to 5 years, then the rest is just simply PROFIT.
