These kinds of companies will make promises that they do not intend to keep, and they will take your money and disappear.
What are the signs?
To be able to recognize a fly-by-night company or a scam, you have to be able to recognize the signs of such companies or organizations:
- They make promises that seem illogical, impractical, or out of this world
- They charge much lower prices than competitors
- They have very few client testimonials available with the media
- They ignore you after you have paid for services
- They do not have a physical office address
- They do not have corporate bank accounts and accept cash only
There are many other signs that indicate the illegitimate or scam nature of a company. It is best to always do your due diligence when engaging a company for its services.
In the Philippines
In the Philippines, such solar scammers are known as “guerilla installers” of solar panels. The questionable quality of the panels is the ultimate problem, and the public has been warned by the Department of Energy about engaging with such suppliers.
“Fake panels or improperly installed panels are serious hazards. They can cause fires and disasters which will result in fatalities. We have to learn to take solar seriously.
