SOLAR AND THE COLD WEATHER

Can you already feel the cold breeze brought by the December weather? The cold winds are expected to last up to February and during these months, how will it affect your PV system?

Solar thrives in cold weather

It has always been a myth that heat is better for your solar energy system since they are closely associated with sunlight which is totally false. The solar panels installed actually generates electricity from the sun’s light and not heat. They are made up of silicon cells that react when hit by a sunlight which causes motion in electrons and produce electric current. Excess heat causes “energy loss” and reduces your system’s energy production by increasing the energy levels of electrons in your solar panels. These high energy levels produce ‘heat’ instead of ‘electricity’, which actually interferes with the energy production.

The cooler the temperature, the better for your system; compared to the scorching heat during summer months. Too much heat on the solar panels will impact how energy is produced inside the cells. Colder temperatures induce better and efficient energy production that can level the lesser daylight hours during these months.

AIRSAFE 101: UV LIGHT IN AIR PURIFIERS

Aside from its impressive Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), state-of-the-art pollution sensors and filters, did you know that the AirSAFE also comes with an internal UV light as part of its seven stages of air filtration?

What is a UV light?

UV-light or ultraviolet light is an invisible type of electromagnetic radiation, packed with energy greater than visible light but lesser than x-rays. They are used in tanning and also commonly blamed for the unwanted sunburns, and worse, skin cancers when exposed too much to its radiation. The most popular source of UV light is the sun but advancement in technology has allowed us to produce it for various medical, industrial, and commercial purposes.

How does UV light in air purifiers work?

STORMY, RAINY, AND CLOUDY: HOW DOES YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM WORK DURING DAYS LIKE THESE?

Although the sun’s energy is abundant throughout the year, the Philippines resides in the typhoon belt where a minimum of 20 typhoons visit our zone every year. That being said, is it even worth it and safe to install solar?

Similar to how your skin tans when it’s overcast outside, your solar panels will still generate electricity during cloudy or rainy days. Solar energy systems produce electricity through light. Although they are more effective when directly hit by sunlight, they are still capable of converting indirect sunlight to energy that your household or business can use – except that it’s less harvest compared to a clear, bright, sunny day. The rain has its advantage though, since it serves as a ‘free car wash’ for your solar panels, effectively washing and removing grime and dirt that may have accumulated overtime.

No need to worry if the solar energy produced is not enough on certain days since a grid tie system is interconnected to the utility grid. The grid will automatically supply the lack of power supply seamlessly. TURNING ON THE SUN FOR THE AUTHORITY OF THE FREEPORT AREA OF BATAAN

More than a year in the making, and despite being in the midst of the global pandemic throughout 2020 and 2021, Solaric still installed and turned on the sun for the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB). The 6.6MW rooftop solar power plant is on 14 buildings of the eco zone of Bataan – and it is certainly another big step in delivering clean and renewable energy for the Filipino people.

The 6.64MW solar rooftop project is composed of 14,756 monocrystalline solar panels that can help reduce the Eco zone’s carbon emissions by 5,800 metric tons and help protect the environment as the world addresses the effects of climate change.

In line with the renewable energy law that requires new and existing building to use solar and other renewable energy technology to promote clean energy usage, the AFAB has fully committed itself to sustainability and greener options for its operations to effectively manage their environment impact and bring down their energy costs.

AIR PURIFIERS vs HUMIDIFIERS

Do I have to get an air purifier or a humidifier for my home or office? What is the difference between these two?

Air Purifiers

By removing harmful airborne particles and pollutants that are commonly invincible to the naked eye such as dust, pollen, virus, and smoke are how air purifiers are designed to improve the indoor air quality of its surrounding area.

Depending on its additional features or technical specifications, most air purifiers work by drawing polluted air with its fan motors on its inlet and undergo a series of filtration to trap, capture and remove pollutants before releasing the clean air back to the environment.
